There's a huge difference, there has to be:

Full time vs Part time
£1.6m vs £300,000 cap
£1.2m vs £100,000 Sky money

Figures are there or there abouts. I wouldn't expect to be seeing any closeness whatsoever between clubs in these different leagues. There may be a shock CC result one day though, ala HKR vs Warrington some years ago.

To be honest I don't know how much help 3 years advance knowledge would be. They wouldn't be able to sign anybody extra since they would still have to abide by the Championship salary cap and Championship level income. Admittedly it would give more time to negotiate sponsorship deals and the like but they've still got around 10 months to do that anyway.

It should be and will be Widnes who get the franchise.
