Quote Roofaldo="Roofaldo"The trouble with P&R is the boom and bust mentality that it generates.
So the club that comes up is already weaker than the other teams in SL it terms of recruitment AND the fitness level between Championship and Super League. And very often the club that came up were the whipping boys.
The current way is that the club that's coming up will know, I believe, in April. So they've plenty of time to get themselves ready for SL and have a fair chance at any free agents and means that the club that comes up has a fighting chance.'"
Where Widnes the ' whipping boys ' in 2002 ? , Huddersfield in 2003 ?, Salford in 2004 ?
When the Championship ( NFP/NL 1 as was ) season finished in July , there was no problem , when the season was put back to October , then we started to have problems , so the answer would be ?
You state ' The current way ' , what current way , you mean this year , after this year there is no guarantee that a club will ever be allowed to come up again , if the new TV deal gives the SL clubs more money ( which let's face it , most of them need it to stay in business ) , then the gap between the Championship and SL will grow even bigger
So the problem isn't going up , it's dropping down , that is why we have a ' Licence ' system , to protect the clubs ( Expansion mostly ) at the top , not the ones at the bottom
