| Quote Dettoriman="Dettoriman"Why should Castleford Tigers consider this, We offered it, Got laughed at. So we have prepared our plans alone.
We would be mad to just let Wakefield share now.
I would however be happy for Cas to allow Wakefield to rent the stadium for a year while they prepared a suitable venue for themselves'"
I'd agree with you about Wakefield's behaviour in the whole thing, which was frankly ridiculous, but I do think it would be massively to both clubs advantage to share a stadium in some way. Whether Cas are the "senior partners" in the thing might be a way forward but it would drastically reduce Cas' costs for the ground if it can be used 24 times a year instead of just 12 and the maintenance costs are shared. A stadium is a very expensive thing for a rugby league club to own and run when it is an exclusively rugby league stadium.
Take a look at the biggest 3 clubs in RL (and by biggest I mean in business terms) Leeds, Wigan & Hull FC. They all share a stadium and it drastically improves the finances of the club.
Have a 20,000 capacity stadium. 1 side of it in blue, red & white for Wakey, 1 side of it in yellow & black for Cas. It'd get nearly filled for Cas v Wakey games plus the options of some internationals there.
Whilst I understand there is bitterness between the 2 clubs I think they (especially Wakey) need to put that aside and come together for the benefit of both.

| Maybe they should pursue the complete non starter at Newmarket?
They cant afford to keep playing at Oakwell in the Championship, Which is more than likely where they are heading.

The Castleford fans would not accept the stadium, We have prepared and planned. Unless it was a Castleford Stadium, In Castleford's Colours.

| If Wakey end up in the Championship, they can remain at BV.
They can't remain at BV for 2012, if they are to remain in SL.

I honestly think they would if the argument about finances is put to them. Because whilst a new stadium is looking great news in the short to medium term for Cas, in the longer term it could be an expensive millstone hanging around their necks if it's only used 12 times a year.

| Not being in fanbase of either club, it might seem a little disingenuous to comment. However, an RL stadium is only going to be used a maximum of 15/16 times a year. Or to put it another way, it's about 2/3 of the year laying idle. So, a ground share makes financial sense for clubs as then the ground is being used twice as often, which will cut down on stadium running costs for both parties.
I understand the objections of the fans. But, we've seen Wakefield's finances under public scrutiny, and as Cas are a similar size club, there is a possibility that they could find themselves in a similar position. I'm not saying they will, i'm not saying they are in financial trouble or that I've got access to any sort of inside info. I'm just using common sense and saying that I'd rather not see either club fail or disappear from the sport altogether and if a ground share will improve their positions then surely it's the right thing to do.

Do you really think stadiums are only used on first team home match days?
