| Quote The Glorious League Freak="The Glorious League Freak"I cant think of any configuration of the bloodbin rule in Rugby League where a team would benifit from a player being sent to the blood bin.

Not currently but in Super League I recall when it first came in there was an issue that a player would get a geniune cut and even though it would take maybe a minute to patch up he could sit in the "blood bin" for as long as he wanted - thus an extra interchange if that was a prop.
So it was a rule initially open to abuse but they soon closed that kind of loophole up by instead counting it as one of your interchanges - so now its a nuisance more than an advantage. That rule was changes quite a few years ago.
Adrian Hadley played in the final dregs of the winter era - did we even have a blood bin then? We only had two subs anyway - did we have an interchange system then?

| Well yeah the bloodbin rule is not THAT old is it.
I think over here we fixed the problems with the blood bin before they even were a problem. You tend to find if the NRL has a problem with a new rule fans, the media, coaches and players will pick it apart publically so the NRL fixes problems before they actually happen in real life.
I cant remember problems actually hapopening in the game over here with the blood bin. I tend to think if someone is d*cking around with the blood bin rule they are forgetting about, you know, playing football!

It would either cost you an interchange or it just wouldnt be needed because of unlimited interchange.'"
Exactly. What the feck has this got to do with rugby league?
All smacks of 'well they do it too, Sir!'. Pathetic.

Agree with that entirely. That was my thought when reading the post about Barrie Mac. Barrie Mac should have been obsessed with smashing his opposition prop into the ground in defence and using him as a doormat in attack. How the hell can he do that when he's fannying around trying to get himself bloodbinned? Pathetic coaching from whoever was in charge.

Look its the same thing when we hear the old "We're gonna fight them" call from the GB side.
Yeah great, while you are working yourself up looking to have a fight, how about using some of that energy to, ya know, tackle!
I just have zero faith in the people who run the english game.

| I'ts all down to experience GLF.
Despite the bravado, English players dont have the same background of fighting, molesting or sh-itting in hotel corridors that NRL players do. Until they do we will never be able to compete

| Well, you might see that as being the case, but non of that has anything to do with playing dreadfull Rugby League.
And, if you wanna go down that direction, lets not start on the behavior that's accepted in SL. I mean, when ever an NRL player is standing trial for a serious offense, he is always comfortable in the knowledge that a SL club will stand beside him.

| Thats because we're trying to learn from the best and who better than an Aussie RL player to learn inappropriate behaviour from.

| has this matter been discussed yet?
I know we used it in the Amateur game (Siddal) a few times when the blood-bin rule came in. Wouldn't have thought it was widespread though.
Could be wrong.
