Toulouse Olympique could not afford to continue in the Championship & neither could Gateshead who despite a good showing were wound up (another failed expansion area).

I will welcome Toulouse Olympique back with open arms & to a degree Toronto [iCenturions[/i ,though the way they approached their recruitment will always taint them for me.

So Leigh [iCOULD[/i have been relegated but [iSHOULDN'T[/i have been relegated, in the same way that Catalan Dragons [iShould Not[/i have had 6 years direct entry, gratis, exempt at the expense of established RL Clubs & without having to work through the grades to achieve success. Note that I am pleased it worked out for Catalan & aim to visit in 2017 but it could also have worked out for Featherstone Rovers who were at the time the dominant Championship RL Club.

Give your expansionist head a little wobble for a mo & consider the worth of long standing, some founding member RL Clubs such as Leigh, Fev, Fax, Bradford & Whitehaven.

Unless you want a Yorkshire v France league with a token Cheshire, Merseyside & Canadian Club thrown in.

Yeah, fair play to them getting promoted and everything but I think a few of them are completely deluded if they think they offer anything different to Super League. At the end of the day, they've had one season in the top flight in the last 20 years for a reason. They're a small team with a small fan base based in a small town in Wigan. Hardly something that's gonna massively increase the profile of the sport. Super League would be much better off with either a well run expansion team or a Bradford side that isn't completely dysfunctional but hey ho. I say this as a Wakefield fan too and acknowledge that we don't really offer that much either (although fortunately for us someone appears to have cast some kind of spell that means we can never be relegated).

Comparing Leigh and their big city neighbors is a bit like comparing Cas Tigers with Wakefield Wildcats - just the other way round.

We are now with the likes of Widnes, Wakefield, Huddersfield, & Salford that will 'probably' not get a crowd over 5K without a decent away following, or maybe a MASSIVE game for the home team. As for we are 'based in Wigan' that is an untrue bitchy remark (are you French ?), which is uncalled for. Our ground is 3 miles nearer to Bolton Wanderers stadium, than the Piedome....


And what is there 'offering anything new' to Sooper Dooper League, why do we have to ? There was life before SL pal, and for a 100 years it did OK.....don't you think ?
