Leeds:

With other SL/NRL clubs:

Adrian Morley
Garreth Carvell
Richard Mathers
Nick Fozzard
Ewan Dowes
Peter Fox
Scott Murrell
Jason Netherton
Chev Walker
Nick Scruton
Matt Diskin
Gareth Raynor
Kyle Briggs
Jodie Broughton
Ashley Gibson
Danny Williams
Luke Gale
Danny Ward
Mark Calderwood
Gareth Moore
Richard Moore
Jordan Tansey
Luke Burgess

I make that 23 to your 19.

Currently part of the Leeds first team squad:

Lee Smith
Ryan Hall
Danny McGuire
Rob Burrow
Jamie Jones-Buchanan
Carl Ablett
Kevin Sinfield
Ryan Bailey
Kallum Watkins
Chris Clarkson
Ben Jones-Bishop
Paul McShane
Brad Singleton
Jared Stewart
Liam Hood
Callum Casey
George Elliott

Which I make to be 17 each on that count.

Want to revise your one-eyed comment that Leeds are still "some way behind" Wigan when it comes to producing SL standard players?

Bloody hell Dally. You need to stop posting factual things and go back to your usual trolling. I can't fault anything you say recently.

Firstly, how many Superleague games have Stewart, Hood, Casey and Elliott played? None.
So that would be 17 v 13, unless we add Sam Powell, Ryan King, Dom Crosby, Logan Tomkins and Matty Russell, who are 'currently part of the Wigan first team squad', which would make it 22 v 17.

Secondly, you need to add Mark Flanagan, Sean Long, Eloi Pelissier, Kyle Amor and Joe Mellor to the list of Super League players who have played in Wigan's Academy. 24 v 23?

How many of those had to leave because you decided to sign an overseas player instead?

Hull KR have a had a lot of critiscism (and rightly so in some instances) but in most cases i could have used the similar excuses the Wigan fans are using on here. At the end of the day clubs have to take the lead and reduce the numbers, we had an excuse of not producing enough but they are starting and I'd hope we'll reduce our numbers. But as the Wigan fans have pointed out they have had the production line available, yet they chose not to fully use it, sign an o/seas player and move the lads on.

Or a better Academy prospect was ready to take their place.

Ainscough moved on, and we've seen another 2 Wigan trained Wingers come up and take his place in the team over the last 2 years.

Quote: imwakefieldtillidie "Do you know what's really sad? In the past when Wakefield haven't haven't been playing I've often gone to other games just to watch a game of rugby. I've been to Leeds, Castleford, Featherstone, Dewsbury, Bramley, Hunslet as well as Grand Finals, Internationals and Origin matches for no other reason than it was a game of rugby. I don't do that any more, and it's purely because of what our game has become. What happens on the pitch is no longer relevant, the international game is a joke and we're further away from beating the Aussies than any other time since I started watching the game 23 years ago. I've become so disillusioned with the game that I was even pleased when the Exiles beat England. My Sky Sports subscription has also gone. Unless it's Wakefield involved I don't really care anymore. So you're probably right, I won't be missed.'"

Can't imagine why!!!!! icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Lots of good players in this country but the way is barred by the narow minded blinkered thinking of clubs who prefer to sign past it crocks from overseas.

How many of those players were good enough to be in Wigans team? Not many at all.

You've seen the amount of kids Wigan produce, we can't keep them all. Some are simply not good enough (Josh Veivers and Stuart Howarth), some leave for disciplinary reasons (Luke Robinson) and some are offered better money with more first team opportunities (Shaun Briscoe).

In the past Wigan have been negligent with some of our home-grown players. The club under Maurice/Whelan during the Super League era was an utter shambles. Thankfully we've seen that turnaround and we've got a coach who is not afraid to blood some young lads - we've also taken advantage of the dual registration system too.

Look we have too many overseas players. I want to see that number come down. Ben Cross is a short-term signing in a position we need to strengthen. Both Cross and Hoffman will leave next season for certain. That leaves Amos Roberts, George Carmont, Pat Richards, Brett Finch, Jeff Lima and Thomas Leuluai. That's 6 overseas players. The same as most clubs - ideally I would like to see the number stay at five and from next year with Amos Roberts, George Carmont and possibly Finch/Leuluai set to leave I think we'll achieve that.

Its good that you admit there is a problem at Wigan with the number of overseas players rather than being in denial like most Wigan fans. You say when Cross and Hoffman leave at the end of the season that will leave 6 overseas players (if were not counting Hansen but lets not get back onto that). This is presuming Wigan dont sign 2 overseas players to replace these, I suspect they will, but I suppose we will just have to wait and see.

I've not read this thread, but isn't it hilarious that someone who wants an overseas team to be in Super League is slagging clubs off for signing overseas players.

Xenophobe alert.

So which of the teams in the competition overseen by Super League (Europe) Ltd are "overseas teams"?
