You think this is good, you should see him on twitter this morning, warming up nhs staff saying they shouldn't be allowed any annual leave.
Thats going down well.

| Oh dear. No annual leave for nhs staff and just getting someone to cover from another ward…
Im sure a tired gynaecologist who had to cancel his birthday and hasn’t had a day off in months will be absolutely fine to just cover on a covid ward. I can’t see any mistakes being made there leading to more litigation from lawyers etc.
In fairness some of the points made have merit even if it doesn’t seem relevant to players and vaccinations but those two gems are laughable

Just a typical response to anything I put. If you actually bothered to read what I put you'd realise it's not that controversial.
As of last week there were more frontline NHS staff on annual leave than sick with covid. The suggestion that they don't take annual leave during a particularly bad covid wave isn't an outlandish thing to suggest. You might not agree with it, that's fine. But it's not wildly crazy to suggest.

Just putting a childish slant on things adds nothing does it. A lot of staff will be able to work multiple wards. This happens as part of normal operations anyway, staff will move between wards, hospitals and even NHS Trusts if required. I'm not suggesting the cleaner does a shift inserting ventilation tubes, but you know this but you are just so close minded and unable to think.

The NHS has been understaffed for years. It was 40k nurses short before COVID. The ‘just get other nurses from others wards’ quip was way out too, it simply doesn’t work like that. Wards are specialities, getting a nurse from ophthalmics and bobbing them in ICU will work amazing won’t it. Like getting a plasterer to do your central heating .......... it’s ok though as they’re both tradesman.

Being facetious and adding stupid examples again. What does that add? Nurses clearly can move between wards. I know a woman who works in A&E at Warrington General mainly but who worked on the Covid wards when hospitalisations were bad last year. She's working in Runcorn at the moment in Minor Injuries. There were no covid wards in 2019, where do you think the specialist nurses who work in them now came from?
The NHS is poorly run and needs an overhaul. Labour are planning to use private providers if they get in power, I suggest not having annual leave and paying NHS significant bonuses during very temporary waves of the pandemic and moving nurses between wards to cope (Which happens) and I'm an idiot? Like I've said, you don't have to agree with me, but what I'm suggesting isn't moronic.

A childish slant? You’ve lost me with that one. Not sure where that’s come from but I did laugh at the irony of you then going onto justify it being saying ‘you weren’t suggesting the cleaner’. I can only see one childish slant here buddy.
Running with your suggesting, and ignoring the fact medical professionals spend years studying and specialising, do you not think the underpaid nhs staff will be more likely to make more mistakes if they are forced to work 10 hour shifts for months on end?
They are not robots. It wasn’t too long ago people were clapping them and calling them heroes. Now they shouldn’t be allowed a day off apparently.

Whilst ignoring that these people wo can just "Be moved" around may already have been moved around and there isn't any more moving around to be done without impacting significantly on patient care.

Why is everything so binary with you? When 5% of the NHS staff are off work on annual leave, it's not a ridiculous suggestion to cancel leave to ensure enough staff are available. I even suggested paying them a bonus for that. I'm not suggesting you agree with it, but there's nothing at all wrong with suggesting it. It's likely this wave will be done in three weeks. Are you suggesting the NHS staff cannot possibly work three weeks without a holiday?

Unfortunately people have been saying ‘it will be done in three weeks’ since March 2020. Must be those pesky scientists prolonging it for more media work….
You’ve avoided my question twice now. Do you not see your grand idea leading to more clinical mistake being made by tired nhs staff working outside their own areas of expertise?
I appreciate you are not trying to get me to agree but you just keep repeating it despite being told by practically everyone else that it’s a terrible idea. You really can’t accept the criticism of your idea?

| NhS staff have apparently been resigning in record numbers of late, and recent surveys suggest many more are on the brink of quitting. Cancelling their annual leave would push many more to conclude they have no future.
The question was is it really so far fetched to call people back in from their leave, and I would say that the answer is yes. It would be the ultimate insult to a jaded and disenfranchised workforce.
