I sumtimes wish you poms took the game you invented serious like us.Still yet to be seen.'"
In the UK we have a small matter of Soccer...
The premiership - on average, over 35,000 per team per week turn out to watch premiership footy
The Championship - on average, over 20,000 per team per week turn out to watch Championship footy
League 1 / 3rd tier - The top 4 best supported clubs in english footballs 3rd tier have an average gate of between 17 and 24000
Now consider what it costs to watch english league football...League 1 / 3rd tier, costs about the same as watching Rugby Leagues Superleague and at some clubs, it costs more!
Football is the UKs number one sporting attraction - over a million people every week pay to go and watch live football and a lot pay through the nose for it - at both home and away games. Watching football in the UK is an expensive do!
Then Rugby league has to fight with the likes of cricket, motoracing and rugby union for the rest of the people who can afford to go out and watch sport.
Personally, i think RL in the UK is doing well to attract the support it does considering what other sports it is battling with for fans.
In australia, isnt RL held in the same regard and english football? isnt it the 'premier' sporting attraction? it certainly doesnt have to fight for support with a concept that is as well supported as football is in the UK.
for the above stated reasons, i dont think you can make a fair comparison between attendances in Superleague and the NRL.
oh and whilst were here, its ' pohm ', and i find it ironic that you aussies use the term in reference to us english.
