I take your point but the familiarity of Cudjoe and McGilvray as a unit working together might trump Charnley but he should certainly be in the squad and all should play in the group games to determine the best combinations for the later stages.
To be fair, the quality and number of players available to England is higher than for many many years. Outside of those wingers in this discussion, you could add Briscoe, Broughton, Jones Buchanan,, Dixon and some others and any one would do a creditable job.

I just dont see McGilvray as an international standard winger, certainly not from the times I've seen him. That said, I dont see him every game.

Briscoe perhaps, the rest are not international class, some nowhere near (Dixon?! He would get absolutely ripped to shreds). Assume you mean Jones bishop rather than jjb

| Quote: GIANT DAZ "Cudjoe was class yesterday, but he is most weeks. Maybe because he isn't one of the 'flair' players who gets lots of media coverage he gets overlooked by people at times. Him and Watkins, in my opinion, are the best 2 and both will only get better in time too.'"
Doesn't get media coverage because he doesn't do live interviews. Coaches all rate him though.

you seem to be neglecting the fact the leagues top scorer, wouldn't be playing hull kr and wakefield, and not using wigan's only set play of obstruction supreme.

And yet he's still scored nearly twice as many tries against the same opposition. Mcgilvray is a good winger, Charnley is a very very good winger.

| As a player charnley, so you can't really leave him out! As a combination Jerry and Cudjoe which could also work out for the best. That's if either of the 3 are picked.

Charnleys a decent winger, a pretty good finisher, who happens to be very very very fortunate he plays on the right wing at wigan, against teams that them selves because they can't defend against wigan's one set play and also dont know how to defend against sam tomkins in this set play as well.
If you use your eyes watching wigan matches, and then a little bit of common sense, charnley and tomkins being 1 and 2 in the try scoring charts is somewhat skewed.
As i say, england wont be playing hull kr and wont be playing wakefield, they'll be playing NZ and Australia who'll defend a gazillion times better than SL sides, him being top try scorer won't be worth diddly.

To an extent i agree with you but Charnley has the ability to be a good winger. The key thing for any winger is to spend a lot of time with a regular centre so they know what the other is going to do and they can work together as a team in a team.

You're absolutely right, they will defend a lot better, in which case McGilvray really will be in trouble wont he? Charnley scores an awful lot of tries that he creates himself, he's incredibly quick, good defender and a good side step. I would much rather go into the world cup with Charnley outside Cudjoe, exploiting the space made for him than McGilvray. Id rather see Lineham outside of Cudjoe than McGilvray to be honest. It sounds like I'm having a charnley love in, truth be told I cant stand the little lover. But he has to be a shoe in for one wing spot, probably Hall the other.

Thought that myself, Hall is a certainty (if fit) and rightly so as he is up there with the best in the world, he could actually be the best winger there is in the game at the moment

| Fwiw as a Giants fan I'd take Charnley over Jerry all the time. Jerry is good, almost invaluable in the first carries too but Charnley has more pace and can craft some wonder tried - put him outside Cudjoe and its a mouthwatering prospect
