| Quote: SecondRowSaint "LMS hit Kelly late, yes. Matongo hit Lomax late and high. That's the difference.
Houghton was correctly sinbinned. I don't see how anyone can argue that. Crusher tackles have been rightfully sinbinned all season, that's an area were officials have been consistent.'"
Masi tackle wasn't high, otherwise he would have seen red, yellow was the right decision, unfortunately sane with the other two, discipline letting us down as it has last two years, needs to improve or we won't even finish in the top 4

| If Hull had been just a bit more sensible they’d have won today. Bar the game’s opening they were the best team when it was XIII v XIII

| Didn't Washbrook get a yellow last round in the cup for a Knee To Face? Even without the reds and yellows of the battle at Fev and the hattrick yesterday Hull seem to be getting a lot of cards? Eased a little by Watts departure? Would like to see the stats of both teams discipline wise this last year? Hull fans making out they are choir boys is laughable.A side based on aggression and bully tactics ( which isn't a criticsm.Wish we had as much vim) Its all about doing the dirty stuff and just getting away with it. Thought Catalan showed how to do it at Hudds.Sucked them into giving penalties away and generally played right on the edge of the refs tolerances.Lots of nasty cheap niggle which got under Giants skins and ultimately won them the game imo. Hull have been very good last few year in that side of things but seem to be pinged a lot more now? Is it the publicity Connor has drawn? Thaler in particular seems to have a short fuse with him? All musings and may be wide of mark but yes all in all a good game to watch

The knee to the head was stupid, but like the Toronto punch a few weeks back. When it's handbags the ref usually just puts everything on report. But if you do something so blatant for the TV cameras even if it's a nothing shot and petulant gives the ref no out but to bin the player.
It probably did not help that a potential spear tackle had been mixed in minutes before. Just builds a pattern of events the ref can't ignore.
Was a stupid rush of blood that was not required as Hull were on top at that stage. Could have easily gone on to win.'"
Which players have been given reds this season for a crusher tackle?

| Something needs to be done about players reversing into tackles. How are you supposed to tackle someone who runs into you backwards then sits down? Danny Houghton makes more tackles than anyone else in SL and there's nothing wrong with his technique. He was unlucky yesterday that connor came into the tackle and pushed him forward but if richardson hadn't reversed in it wouldn't have happened

Don’t be so stupid they have Wilkins in the team for starters - just for once get a grip.

| Quote: Mild mannered Janitor "Kelly was wiped out by LMS, but dont let your bias get in the way of reality.
As for Houghton, I fail to see how he is at fault when Connor and Minichello come in to complete the tackle, just where is Houghton expected to go. The St's player got himself into a poor position.
I am also loving the "we had an off day". Could it just be possible that it was down to the opposition putting pressure on St's player which they are not used to?
If you think it was a great refereeing performance then you are One Eyed Willy from The Goonies.
It was probably Connor and Minicchello caused the Houghton incident. So the next question is how can Richardson put himself in a better position with 3 big forwards on top of him with quarter of a ton of weight on him.

He's no where as good as Connor though for grubbiness, Wilkin is better looking were Connor does look like a grub especially when he opens his mouth.

| As a neutral, I really don't see the 'better team lost' argument; Saints weren't at their best, but they are very entertaining and play some great rugby. Hull, for my money, decided to get down and dirty for this one - some of which worked, as I thought they did a great job of negating Barba's threat, but it backfired - and discipline ended up costing them.
Two fine refereeing performances in the big matches this weekend - hats off to Mr Hicks and Mr Thaler.

That was partly ferres excuse last year, the problem with that, and this was that houghton was in the process of unscrewing his noggin with both arms wrapped around, regardless of whoever was on his back, he wasn't making room for the tacklers head.

I suspect the disciplinary will pick that up and if charged a 2 match ban likely.

Maybe. He wouldn't be playing this week anyway.

Spot on this imo
Hull came with a game plan and credit to them executed it well and very nearly came away with the win. Saints created a lot of chances and didn't take them, whereas Hull probably had 5 scoring chances all game and took 4 of them and in cup rugby that is what you need to do.
Saints were perhaps a bit fortunate to hang on and win, but I think Hull's indiscipline was the major deciding factor in us winning the game

It did look a bad one at the time, I bet there are loads of minor knocks and bruises reported this morning from both sets of players. It was a right ding dong of a cup game yesterday always the result in doubt until the final minute. Both sets of players gave it there all, at one point I did think it was going to be a draw after 80 mins.
