I don't think he is - it sounds like he wants to increase the salary cap to bring a couple of star men into the Salford team. He wants sucess now.

Good. We need people prepared to get on with things and make stuff happen immediately. As they said on the radio, this guy is used to winning. If I were a Salford fan I'd be buzzing about the future. As a RL fan, I can't wait to see a strong Salford, and also for the example it will set as to what works...sorry to say this, but it pretty much comes down to money. The only reason we're a bit wary of rich benefactors is that there aren't enough in our game for when they go missing. There's hardly even enough to go around 14 sides. The answer is to find more! Let's get behind this guy and hope for more like him to follow.
He was clear on the radio last night that he was OK with the cap, but he wants a structure that allows you to bring in a couple of stars outside the cap. As long as it is his money and the club isn't put into a ton of debt to fund it, good luck him. Nothing, absolutely nothing, puts bums on seats more than big name players.
I'd go further and have a 13 player limit on salaries over 50k but no cap at all on those, other than what is finanally affordable for the club. But he's cleverer and richer than me, so I'll go along with his idea!

| Halifax's history is there for all to see. Club built up on the back of two benefactors. One of them bankrupts the club, the other walks away. Great times had by all but big fall from grace at the end.
Koukash should spend more time making Salford sustainable and less time mouthing off like an eighty-ninth minute soccer sub.

Ok little rich how do you think Salford could become sustainable in your own view?.
In my view what Koukash is doing is the only way to do it, Salford will not be able to run its self make a profit and become successful on 2/3000 fans! That's impossible, the way I see it he'll splash the cash FOR NOW! Get us up to speed with the big boys which will attract the crowds, plus the marketing of the club will be improved 10 fold compared to the non excisitent marketing by the last lot. His plans for hotels, casino restraunts and cinema on site is what will be making the club money not from Koukash's pockets maybe now yes he will have to spend abit but in the long run outside revenues will be generating the cash for the club to become sustainable.

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10174.png |

Just because they have made a few high profile bids for players doesn't mean they haven't started work improving the other areas of the club.

| for some reason, in RL, it seems to have been decided that the less we spend the better. Which is stupid. It really is.
If Dr Koukash was trying to make Salford sustainable at the level they are now, then I would be worried. Salford arent ever going to be sustainable with such low crowd figures. Bringing in top quality players and big name players is a valid and worthwhile way of increasing those figures.
It isnt a given that a club spending less is more sustainable, and it is incredibly naive to say it is. RL seems the only game to be almost actively against investment in it.
Clubs dont go bankrupt by simply spending more. The reasons clubs go bankrupt is just as much down to not bringing enough in as it is to spending too much.

Needs to continue to get a hold of the stadium for the club. Seems negotiations came to a blank with Peel and Council. Would do well to concentrate on that. Baby steps.

No they havnt come to a blank? Talks are still ongoing, looks good at the moment council want rid of their share of the stadium and Koukash wants it otherwise it could be a burden for the council. Three words Don Valley Stadium. Salford council wouldn't want a repeat of that now would they.

Where is this sanity coming from ?!?
Spot on.
All this "make them sustainable first" is rubbish. It sounds very nice, but all sustainability means is making outgoings matching income over the long-term (it's fine to make losses during periods of investment - that's pretty much the definition of "investment" ).
How would these people propose to make Salford "sustainable first"?
How would you build a factory if you had to make it "sustainable first"? Start selling matchsticks until you had enough for a few bricks, etc.?
I have no problem at all with rules to help prevent clubs bankrupting themselves (noting that, at the end of the day, bad management is always capable of bankruptcy, whatever rules exist ), but those rules shouldn't be structured stop a rich person investing a ton of money in a club. Just so long as the investment isn't in the form of debt. And I'm sorry, but rich people aren't going to do it "for the good of the game", they want their chosen club to do well, and to put superstars on the pitch. Does Ambrovich do it for the sake of the Premier League?
As to the other problem - a rich club buying all the best players - you just put physical limits in to stop this. I've thought something like 13 on whatever you like, the rest on no more than £50k, but your £1M + 5 on whatever is perfectly good too. Even the 13 best players in the world won't guarantee total dominance - by definition the 2nd best 13 are somewhere else, and its highly unlikely you'll have more than 10 stars fit at any one time anyway.
