Why would you want a French team in the English super league at the expense of an English club, what exactly will the French players assuming there are any bring to the game over here, Les Cats have proved that without Aussie and English players they could not survive, surely it would be simpler for the French to develop the game over there instead of devaluing our league.

| Would love to see London and Newcastle in SL. Move to 14 clubs. Would expand sensibly. Nothing against the likes of Toronto but to jet across the Atlantic every other week seemed daft. Toulouse may work. Defiantly a big supporter of promotion and relegation

| There's no money to expand with a big drop in tv money.
Is it possible we could ever see a separate tv deal for the championship?

Hopefully we will see some sort of TV deal for championship. Even if its tiny but gets a game on free TV every week it would be great. The only way to increase future TV deals is to increase the numbers watching. With so many channels, netflix, prime etc people won't go hunting for rl.

You do realise that E.S.L stands for European Super League? So why not let a European/French team get in.

If you're fishing, then well done.
London gained promotion and then almost stayed up, only being relegated by the narrowest of margins and with the largest points tally of any team to finish last in the history of Superleague. They did this against all odds and with a team containing home trained players.....something we were told would never happen.
The Team that they defeated to get promoted and then that replaced them when they were relegated went bust.
Quote: atomic "A ten club Super League next year?
Being discussed -
If they go down the 20 team 2 tier system then the distribution of funds will need to be staggered, based on performance.
20 teams means 210 equal 'segments" of funding of about £120,000.
A team finishing 3rd in SL gets 17 of these, a team finishing 3rd from bottom of tier 2 gets 3.....performance on the pitch and personal investment levels for owners will dictate how competitive a side can be and the salary cap needs to be raised.
Beneath this tier, it is key that there is a gateway, so a play off series over 3 games between the 20th side and the L1 champions would be needed.....with a straight 1 up/1 down between SL1 &2.
Any team that goes into administration get the saracens treatment...straight down to level 1!

| Relegation when the sports lower division is so poorly financed is ridiculous.
Promotion and relegation can only really work if you have two strong divisions.
Get rid of it already.

First off, it's not your league.
Secondly how exactly do the French devalue ''your'' league? There are no facts to support that.
Les Cats have been successful imo winning the Challenge Cup and achieving the highest regular season crowd ever.
It's such a xenophobic outlook to have to suggest that because a club is non English that they're taking away a spot in Super league from another English club. No club has a right to a Super league place based on their geographic location. If those English clubs are good enough there are 11 other spots in Super league they can earn.
Toulouse's addition to Super league is long overdue and would be a great opportunity for the sport to grow.

Well you got that right, it's not my league as you are quick to point out on more than one occasion, it is a league made up of English clubs with the one exception, that's a club that as you rightly point out won the challenge cup, with a team made up of roughly 25% of Frenchmen, I don't remember though saying that they devalued super league, that's just you trying to justify your argument about Toulouse.
Les Cats are now fully accepted into the English league but that's not an excuse to bring in more French clubs into an English league, maybe you could justify your bold statement that Toulouse's addition to super league is long overdue and tell me how the English game will grow and benefit from them in super league as against anybody else.

Do you think it will be 2 Super Leagues of 10 - all full time professional?
No funding to clubs outside of Super League.
Minimum spend with no salary cap - yet no relegation?
It means the sport shrinks and doesn't interest any broadcast deals.

They can't develop the game over there as it's pretty much swamped by Union. Count the quality French pro players in 2006 against the number now, half the original Catalans was French now check the Catalans French players who are first pick for SL and it's more than halved again. Look at how many overseas player Toulouse have, they have few first pick French lads even in the Championship, so if they strengthen for Superleague then out most of them will go.
The whole reason Les Catalans and now Toulouse persevere in the English system isn't anything to do with "expansion" their abandonment of their own Elite league has further weakened contracted and isolated RL in France. What if say Wigan and Saints went to join the Elite? Would that be "Expansion" of course not
The refusal to allow Toulouse to take the 12th. place in Superleague recently and the inclusion of Leigh may have been a very strong signal that the French experiment may be coming to an end. Superleague is looking like it will reduce to 10 clubs. For those on the wind-up Mr. Ken Davey will have no doubt already pencilled in Toulouse and Les Catalans for SL 2022, before he's even pencilled his own club in. Recent wind up's prophesise that 2022 will be a good time to bring in Avignon.
That may leave Fartown, Leeds, Hull, Wigan, Wire Castleford and Warrington as the only English clubs in Superleague.
But I am sure in time Villeneuve will displace Castleford, the latter being an old pit town near Leeds.

Not sure at present what is required to meet SL1 status. Or SL2 status for that matter. Hopefully the lower tiers can secure some form of broadcaster. Premier sports being spouted, but not sure that would carry any financial value.
Certainly looking guaranteed no to relegation and no financial support to the lower tiers.
