This sort of scheme would be more feasible than lots of what you might think more sensible ones in that it could much more easily attract major sponsorship. The link hints that airfares could be covered. I think it entirely feasible that hotel costs, enhanced TV and advertising revenues, etc could cover the additional costs. It would, however, require a leap of faith and the giving up local obsessions by the British "rugby league fan."

| It's a ridiculous idea. Koukash, like a lot of very rich men, is clearly used to getting his own way. But this would please no-one: ESL would be (fatally?) weakened as the best English talent flocked to the NRL side, where would the team's support base be in Australia, the travelling cost (in money and time), and so on.
And supposing this putative NRL side wasn't a big success, but ended up in the lower half of the table, attracting dwindling crowds? You know, like Salford...
And,in fact, in the vanishingly unlikely event of this proposal going ahead, what would be the long-term prognosis? Eventually the team would start to recruit Aussies and Kiwis, and, just as the NZ Warriors aren't all Kiwis, this team would in the few years be of mixed nationality and hence indistinguishable from other NRL sides.

| We certainly want and need more competition between NH and SH club sides. But expansion of the WCC, and a few NH sides in the Auckland Nines, are more realistic and plausible starting points.

| Koukash actually needs to start delivering on some of his 'latest great idea' otherwise he'll go from 'out of the box visionary' to 'attention seeking boy who cried wolf'.....with some he's already become that person.

| It seems that some people can't separate the idea from the person delivering it. Delivering judgement based on their personal feelings of MK, rather than looking and judging the idea on paper.
I see nothing wrong with floating ideas around at expanding our sport. At least it means people are thinking of the future even if they will never surface. It gives food for thought.
Dismiss the idea, and why. Not dismiss it because you don't like the person saying it.

Of course we can't seperate the idea from the guy delivering it......because that's what hinges on the chances of it happening, and he's developing a track record of coming up with bold statements and ideas on a monthly basis.
That's like saying people can't seperate a team's chances with who their coach happens to be.....he's going to be the guy responsible for making it happen and even if the team looks good, if there's doubts about the coach then people will be septical.

Im a big fan of Koukash, I think this idea is terrible.
It would hugely undermine Super League, like the celebrations of the success of Graham and Burgess, I have no idea why people are so supportive of the best players SL produces not playing in SL.
Im all for closer integration of the two competitions, hell I'd love it if we moved to a global comp with conferences of which SL was one and I think it would be easily achievable. I just think this idea would hugely damage SL.

No.
People should discuss it as an idea on paper, because that's what it is. I don't think it's supposed to be a full-on, 900 page report detailing every possible minutiae of cause and effect. It's not like it's going to happen anyway...

I think it's just an idea to test the water without fear of anything coming to light, and fwiw I think it would be a bad idea at the moment too.

| it's hard enough for clubs with an identity, a history and a fan base to attract fans. What chance has a parachuted team playing all over the place got..??
