| This is a good idea and you're all missing the point.

| Quote: roofaldo2 "However, there should be a kick clock. Once the ref and touch judges are in position, the kicker has 60 seconds to take his kick.'"
Don't we already have that (at least, for penalty kicks)?
I'm sure Richard Silverwood told Kevin Sinfield that he "has a minute" when he lined up the penalty in the play-off semi-final. That said, I did enjoy that night quite a bit so it's probable that I'm mistaken

| I've never understood why the clock runs down 1 minute at a kick off. IMO the clock should stop when the try is scored, begin again when the ball is placed on the tee and then stopped when it has stopped travelling to the goal. Time should then stop again until the ball is back in play from the kick off.

| Isn't all of this irrelevent anyway? I thought that teams didn't care whether or not they won regular season games .
Thinking about it, what the hell was Lee Briers playing at? Trying to make sure his team didn't lose? Doesn't he know that Warrington will never finish in that highly coveted fifth spot with reckless moves like that?

The rule would apply in the play offs as well

| Is this thread open or closed...I have lost track?
Most time keepers are old men looking to get into games for free, this would confuse the hell out of them!

| I don't often study the rules but I seem to remember something about the clock starting/stopping after a minute has passed.
More than likely wrong, but I seem to remember ref's waving time on/off behind the kicker a few times.

| The current rule gives the try scoring team one minute from the moment the try is scored, not from when the officials are in position. Once that minute passes, the clock is stopped.
Also, at the kick off, once one entire team is ready to play, time is called off.
So its simple, if a team scores in the 78th minute and gets themself within a score, they take the kick within a minute, and by the time the kick is taken you'd expect everyone bar the kicker to be ready to receive the kick off. After that, its a simple case of as soon as the touch judges are in position (20 seconds max), the clock stops. That gives the receiving team, at worst, 40 seconds, to win the game.
Wheres this rubbish about two minutes come from?

| I don't get it. How would this have enhanced the Wigan v Wire game?

The idea is to give try scoring team the option to use the minute for the conversion kick or stop the clock which doesn't start until the opposition kick off to restart the game.

| Nah. There's no need to complicate the game further. If the try scoring team are still behind on points then they should have scored earlier.

Is that the same Lee Briers that said the result didn't matter at this stage of the season?
