Widnes vs Wakey will be a cracking game to kick it off. The new team and the side that didn't think they'd be here but still are. Both sides will have virtually new 17's and fans from both clubs will want to be there to see A) Widnes first game back. B) Wakefield's rebirth as they are viewing it.
For most other sides it's just going around again and will no doubt be on SKY plenty of times.

There was a period where the season opener on Sky was a repeat of the previous season's Grand Final IIRC. |

Hull v Wire is 'a bang'? Its of little more interest to those outside hull and Warrington than the widnes v wakey game. The new boys and also two of the teams likely to be fighting it out at the bottom. Should be an interesting game. |

given that the big clubs dont usually click into gear until June anyway, SKY have probably made the right decision to show the "smaller" clubs first off.

Hull v Warrington has top quality players in it. It also has the potential to be a close game. There will be a 14,000+ crowd no doubt, which presents a good image for the sport.
Contrast to 5,000 at the Stobart with one end completely empty and an amateurish game between two no hopers.
Having the trash teams on SKY is just a bad idea, which pollutes public perception of the sport. We should get the big games, the big crowds and the entertaining games on SKY in order to raise the profile of the sport. |
