| I hope Barrow and Featherstone make the final this year, Sheffield win the NRC and Toulouse and Halifax make the GF next year, and Whitehaven win the NRC the year after so that the RFL have a nice wide choice of SL candidates!  |

Widnes really have taken their eye off the ball since winning the cup. The more "points" they have (Championship final appearances and NRC wins) the less competition they have from other teams come license time.

Too late then , only this year and next count
Celtic nicked a SL application qualifying place when they ' cheated ' their way to last years GF

It was a great win for Fev and fully deserved. Widnes have not been good this year and that came from a bad start and then a new coach who couldn't bring in players he wanted, except on loan. Hopefully we'll have a better crack at the league next year with a fully 'Cullenised' set up, with plenty of upstream go forward from our big units.
I really hope Fev go on to win it, always had a soft spot for them and enjoy trips up there. They have hit form at the right time, Fax are in a slump and Barrow are beatable in finals, so it's possible.
The only down side to all of this is that I should be really gutted today after defeat, but thanks to the crazy set up these days, it doesn't make any different to us at all, except that the prize money would have been nice! All we need to do now is stay finanically stable and not do a Leigh! Hopefully the club will aim a bit higher than that, but this is the situation the RFL have created and so far we have exploited it very well.

Everyone knows Barrow were very jaded going into that final against the SL lone stars, we arnt jaded anymore and wont face any SL lonestars, So its a winnable game for BARROW. |

My opinion
however which other clubs outside SL have
1 The stadium
2 The crowds
3 The finance
4 The history of competing in SL

Just sussed you're a Barrow fan , no disrespect intended
You do have ![]()
Crowds , but only half of what you need to make the step up
Des , I dont know how big his pockets are , so unless you have a ' mega ' sponor lined up as well as Des you would struggle
Moving to SL is massive compared to the Championships
Personally if you win the comp you should go up in my opinion , as the more clubs that get a taste of SL the better for me
However that is only viable if the ' safety net ' of relegation is there in my opinion
Yes what others see as the chance to build I see as the tieing in to disaster
Widnes are at the moment the only club that could move up and be guaranteed not to implode

Of course it's a winnable game for Barrow, just as it will be winable for your opposition. I merely pointed out you are not so far ahead of everyone else as to be unbeatable. That's been the championship style all season. You do sound a bit bitter about the NRC final tho!! Loaning players is part of the game, I'm sure you'll get over it when Rooney bosses the GF!!  |
