Here's 98 pages Rooster booster to get aquainted with OZ TAM and Regional TAM, and if that's not good enough, click the link in the first post and it'll take you to the first footy TV ratings thread which would have around a thousand pages.
yes, we have been collecting the ratings for all sports in Australia since about 2004.

Pity that doesn't translate in the TV deal - as you said the revenue is all in TV - no wonder the AFL are laughing their socks off at the NRL - they have the TV monies and the bums on seats revenues - seems only one winner here!!!

Anyone got any hard facts on that over the first two weeks of the comp?

| TBF NRL crowds are increasing slowly but surely. Addition of GC has helped booost overall attendances and 2 or 3 clubs have shown some good growth but the rest are minor improvements and some clubs such as Raiders have gone backwards.

If the NRL don't do something to get get the Sydney fans off their backsides and into the grounds you are gonna get your national game, but at the expense of all the old clubs, but hey as long as there are people watching on TV hey...
And you called me an idiot
nope i bagged AFL for being beaten by a RL show in terms of tv ratings
because you feel insecure you then raised crowds.
why did you mention crowds when we were talking about ratings?
insecure

So you would be quite happy for the NRL to play in empty stadia as long as the TV viewers kept growing?

Crowds have yet to reach the levels achieved in 2005 so I suggest crowds have still a way to go

You are the most idiot apologist.
So according to this statement, we will never compare AFL or RL telecasts again.
The RL telecasts are always shown at pathetic times in the AFL states.
Identical situation.
382,000 remains shy te.

| Re- the thread:-
Shame for Clive Woody, Little Graeme and Co, that rugby league's new show thrashed the opening game of the AFL season.
Tragedy.
Unfortunately, they have next to nothing as the world's premier rugby competition continues.
Rooster rooter seems to lack an idea when it comes to the TV ratings...

Yeah, RL's ratings include Regionals and the AFL don't

The point is, little Graeme, that you add the two - gate and TV ratings - together.
And radio and internet related technologies for that matter.
That is a better way of inferring the interest in a sporting event.
Not just the gate.
Get with the program lad.

| The big problem for clubs though is that Tv viewers do not equal $'s in the bank. If the NRL TV deal was x% bigger than they wouldn't be worried about bums on seats but it isn;t and probably won;t be for decades. With that being the case bums on seats becomes hugely importnant from a financial sustainability. As I have said many time before, give me crowds of 30,000 every game over an extra 1million TV viewers over a season any day of the week.
