| Quote wrencat1873="wrencat1873"I think that 2 up 2 down may destabilise too many clubs, most of whom are treading water financially but, the first part of your post seems absolutely obvious to all, apart form those running the game.
On the one hand, we are told that clubs like London, Toronto and Toulouse increase the diversity and appeal of SL and yet, they seem unable to convince Sky of the increased value. It's obvious that the current 12 clubs dont want to water down "their share" of the Sky monies but, really ?
Considering that games are now spread over 4 seperate days (usually), which affects attendances, and yet there has been little or no increase from Sky.
I know that the TV industry is changing all the time and there is serious competition from streaming services etc but, IF the inclusion of these clubs makes our competition so much more vibrant and increases the appeal to sponsors and advertisers, it seems reasonable to seek an increase.
If on the other hand there is no added value to Sky (or whoever else) we are all wasting our time.
An increase to 14 clubs would certainly offer true balance to the comp, although this would still leave "magic"'"
I agree with a lot except 2 up 2 down. I would love to see one up this year & keep London then one up next year then back to 1 up1 down in 2021. Get rid the extra fixtures ( we will all have reserve games now to fill in the gaps). As for SKY I am not sure they are that bothered & I have a feeling they won’t even bother when the current deal ends, just look at the way we are treated they don’t even repeat one single game after a live match yet we get endless F1 Wendy ball etc.

| without going to franchise or licensing we should go to 14 clubs and get rid of the loop fixtures, ridiculous concept. Keep the magic weekend if we must although not entirely convinced on what it brings to the competion. Heve relegation and promotion of 1 or 2 up and down every 3-4 years with the timetable agreed well in advance. This will give the promoted sides a chance to build for a sustained run at staying in super league and championship clubs can time there runs to coincide with promtion years.

I agree, its just needs tidying, the actual layout and the ability for fans to move around is a lost luxury in my book. People will miss it when its gone and now only Wakey and Cas still offer it, just like it to be a bit better presented.

And yet, Toronto, along with any additional N. American clubs can only use "journeymen" as they are in no position to play any "locals" and wont be for 10+ years.
Ironically, when they were a league 1 club, thrashing every side they played, there was an opportunity to field some "local" players but, that boat has long since sailed.

Who seems unable? The clubs or Elstone? Because it's very much the latter's remit to sell the game to TV.
And when I read he's currently trying to negotiate a 2 year deal it almost makes me nostalgic for the Nigel Wood era.

| In my opinion both Wakefield and Castlefords grounds are accidents waiting to happen. How they get safety certificates I do not know. Not are they just scruffy.
The terraces at both stadia are in poor condition and at some point an accident will happen. When this one does occur someone will have to be held to account.
I know there have been promises of new grounds, but these are some way off at best. RFL need to get a grip and ensure these grounds are bought up to standard.

| There isn’t enough talent to support an increase in SL teams. Just look at all the teams involved in the relegation battle. All 4 of them have a roster made up
Of journeymen

It might be a one off but look what happened to Salford this year compared to last and hardly a team full of superstar signings? A 14 team league is more balanced and better than a season made up of contrived loop fixtures to 'make the numbers up' IMO

| I found it rather amusing watching the SL show this week and seeing Jamie Peacock talking about the four sides who faced the drop and waxing lyrical about the drama it brought.
This is the same Jamie Peacock that when at Hull KR three years ago publicly stated that 'relegation has no place in RL' after they went down. He's soon changed his tune.

I cant recall if it was him or one of his other former team mates that, just a few years ago, wanted SL trimming to 10 clubs.
Again, there was a rapid U- turn on those thoughts as well.
Having said that, this season, apart form Saints domination at the top, has been really open and competitive and the relegation battle in particular has been as close and as tense as anything that we've seen in RL (perhaps excluding the original MPG between Wakefield & Cas) and it all happened without fabricating fixtures and finding gimmicks - something that those in charge should take particular note of.
