Quote AS108="AS108"The whole thing is very amateur for me, the national anthems, empty stadium, altitude affecting players and far too many errors. The Hall decision was embarrassing as well.'"
I’ve come round to the fact that this isn’t about selling out a 80000 stadium, or even half that, it’s about playing a game around about half way between the two nations (7000 miles from NZ; 4500 miles from England) where the time will be good for people back home in both nations to watch it live. If we can do the same every year in different cities (or the same one of Denver want it) and we get more fans each time then great. This is our first go at it.
If the game was held in either England or New Zealand there’d be a similar sized crowd so I don’t know how many people everyone is expecting to turn up for the game in Denver.
Jesus look at the Kangaroos and Kiwis attendances in the World Cup, this is a more impressive crowd (not as big but more impressive) than either of those Tier 1 RL nations could muster in their own back yards.
The anthems mean nowt, in the London 2012 Olympics they put a South Korea flag up for North Korea’s national anthem at the footy. Shit happens.
The game is exciting, faster and harder than a usual SL game and probably fewer errors despite there being a few tonight
