I still cannot see how a lower division team with very limited turn around time can hope to compete in whatever form of competition following a promotion. I hear rumours that some championship teams will have a slightly higher salary cap but how will that work? I look forward to seeing how it all pans out.

look at the RFL constitution and how an RFL leadership team could survive and push through what they want by relying on a very small amount of SL clubs and the lower league clubs. A situation exacerbated by having 2 or 3 SL clubs not voting.

Smokey, Bradford should have lost their license long ago, that is where licensing fell down because some clubs were untouchable.

Bradford failed, the shame for Bradford fans is that the demise has been so long and drawn out, a sudden fall would have been kinder and better in the long run.

Even Crusaders would have been passed as fit for another three years had they not done the decent thing and stood down.

With regards Leigh getting spanked every week if they win promotion, you mean like Widnes in the first year of their licence? At least after 22 league games they will have a chance of staying up via the middle 8 and gradually get stronger, year on year like Widnes did.

I suggested some time ago that maybe in hindsight Bradford and Wakefield didn't deserve licences but as no one in the championship deserved one either the RFL could have left it as it was? Who knows.

Anyway this could get tasty now with agar walking out on Wakefield. Aparantly Carter let his tyres down after agar got into carter's iPad and wrecked the house he was building on mind craft.

What a world we live in. Now carter is trying to sign 1D as the pre match entertainment for the London game based on his ludicrous and impossible attendance projections.

The big mistake was to expand to 14 at the same time as implementing franchising. It allowed those with vested interests and those wanting P+R for their own reasons to conflate the problems of expanding the league with any changes from franchising.

Had we stayed at 12 we would have had a couple of clubs knocking on the door and should a club have failed or struggled then there would be clubs ready to replace them.

One of the reasons Wakefield, Crusaders and Bradford continued in SL is that there was nobody ready to come in.

Widnes got stronger because they were given room to grow. Room that wont be available ot others. Widnes had time to prepare for SL meaning they did better than most relegated sides but still finished bottom. Whoever comes up will have a far more difficult time than Widnes did.

The problem with franchising is it wasn't working, great in the NRL, but doesn't work here, simple.

Widnes were given time to grow. Yes, first year terrible, second year not so good, third year competitive.

Say Leigh make it into Super League in 2016 year, first year terrible, survive the middle 8, second year not so good, survive the middle 8, third year competitive?

Possible? Yes. Probable? Who knows.

Making into SL is going to be extremely difficult in the first place, any team not in the top league will have half the salary cap available and only a proposed maximum of £500k central funding compared to SL funding of £1.8m. In 2015 they will also be up against 2 relegated teams who get a parachute payment greater than any Championship club get from central funds...
