| Funny how all these armchair supporters remember wetter games. If you weren't there today, you can't really comment. It was torrential from about 1pm till the final whistle, not for a 5min spell...

| Here as in Wembley or here as in somewhere else in London? I assume you were at Wembley seeing as though you seem so sure...

| It was a dreadful final end of, it's not some conspiracy to discredit Wigan or Hull just an honest opinion on what was a really bad game.

| Quote: Cronus "This is a funny funny thread.
Honestly, what did people expect in those conditions? That was the first rainy CC Final in 18 years '"
That is an interesting fact. But basically meaningless. Just because CC Finals haven't been played in the rain hasn't stopped thousands of other games being played in the rain. The players don't get excused for being dog excrement in the rain just because other CC Finals weren't played in the rain
Quote: Cronus "not just wet, the rain was atrocious at times. And yes, those Rhino balls are f*cking terrible in the wet (not even that good in the dry).'"
That's news to me, and also an interesting fact. It's just unfortunate that it was also news to the two teams on the pitch as well.
Quote: Cronus "It was always going to be an error-strewn and physical contest, as wet games normally are.'"
It still could have been error-strewn and physical without boring the life out of everyone unfortunate enough to watch it.
Quote: Cronus "Wigan simply played the conditions better and were outstanding in defence, and Smith's kicking game was as good as I've seen at Wigan for a long time. Hull, for their part, showed superb defence for the most, defending repeat sets several times, and effectively marked Tomkins out the game. Unfortunately they turned over far too much ball and were never going to win with such poor completion.'"
I wouldn't disagree with much of this. I'd say it was a pretty accurate summation of the game. Unfortunately your summation of the game was about 100 times more entertaining than watching the game was. And while your summation was pretty accurate, it still wasn't entertaining. So take your minimally entertaining summation, divide it by 100, now spread that over 80 minutes. That's not a good way to spend an afternoon.
That's why people are reacting badly to it. Most people would have been looking forward to the game. I certainly was. Most people would have expected as least some enjoyment out of 80 minutes of passionate RL. But we didn't really get any.
I take it you're a Wigan fan? I can understand why the game wouldn't be as terrible to you as it was to neutrals. Your team have just won a trophy and done it in a pretty professional manner. Job done for you. But today's game for neutrals was a complete waste of two hours of our life .

| Quote: Horatio Yed "It peed it down, the ground was sodden, it would have made the handling exactly the same, wet shirt, wet hands, wet ground and wet ball would have been identical regardless if it rained constantly or heavy for 25 minutes, once you're wet, you're wet.'"
Don't talk such utter sh:te. A quick cloudburst does not make the ground 'sodden' at all. It drains quickly (especially on world class pitches!) and seeing as there was also plenty of sunshine last year things also dry quickly.
Not even sure what your argument is. Is it "my wonderful Warrington won in better style in torrential rain "? Today was far, far wetter than last year.

It's the closest proper stadium to my house [ I'm not including The Hive or Copthall] so yes, I do know what the weather was like today.

| Mate it rained at the point Sinfield was just about to convert that first try, it was so heavy it was like a fog, the game was p*ss wet through, my point is don't blame the weather for being garbage, plus ive seen many a game in the rain with similar/worse conditions and seen twice the entertainment.

Not really when everyone RL fan and his dog is bitching about a 'boring' final. If you don't think the weather played a huge part, you're an idiot.

Well they were introduced at amateur level as well. Horrible to handle. Let's just say they've disappeared pretty sharpish. And it's not news to the players, many of them have commented on it.

I'd like to apologise on behalf of Wigan Warriors and Hull FC.

We get it. You, and others, didn't enjoy it. Thing is, it wasn't about you. I enjoyed it and bearing in mind Hull were 2 scores in it until the last minute it was fairly tense from a Wigan fan's perspective. So, no offence, your whining and your bitching is just so much hot air. Meanwhile, I've had a cracking day, enjoyed the game and celebrated tonight.

| For Wigan fans it's a great result but be honest if that is what you had to watch every week would you really be an RL fan?
Everyone's point on here is the game was rubbish nothing more, Wigan fans are so touchy, if that had been Wire I would have been honest enough to say it was a crap game.

I can accept that the weather played a huge part in the game. The weather is no excuse for the utterly dreadful match though.
Quote: Cronus "Well they were introduced at amateur level as well. Horrible to handle. Let's just say they've disappeared pretty sharpish. And it's not news to the players, many of them have commented on it.'"
And if the players knew the ball was terrible and the conditions were horrible then they needed to alter their game plans accordingly. Hull didn't seem to bother. Wigan seemed to do so a tiny bit, and that seems to have been enough to win the game.

But here you are debating with neutrals about it.
I'm a Chelsea fan. Our CL final win, our FA Cup Final win against Man Utd, I can imagine that to neutrals those two games weren't very interesting. I can understand neutrals slagging off those finals. I COULD NOT CARE LESS ABOUT THE OPINIONS OF NEUTRALS ABOUT THOSE GAMES. So therefore I wouldn't be going on message boards afterwards trying to persuade them that the games weren't so bad if they were bitching.
You're a Wigan fan. Enjoy your victory. Enjoy your enjoyment of the game. Just be thankful that you didn't have to watch that game as a neutral though, because it was dire.

It plays a huge part but it's no excuse? Eh?

You're answered your own comment there. Wigan played the conditions better. There were errors on both sides but Wigan made fewer.

Please point out where I've tried to persuade anyone the game wasn't "so bad"? Oh, I haven't. You're not doing very well here.

I haven't said it wasn't a crap game. Even as a Wigan fan the poor quality was clear - but when the you're only 10 points ahead until the 79th minute in a final it's still tense.
By the way, in 2012 Warrington scored 29 of their 35 points when it wasn't raining.
