I really don't understand all the talk about not being able to run the "Magic" weekend with an odd number of teams. Just invite the Championship GF winner to take part. Simples.
We are about to undertake a major restructure with a return to P & R by merit. To simply put a random team in now would once again make a mockery of the RFL

How would that work in terms of league points and deciding which SL team gets a freebie fixture against a championship club? |

i agree rich its always good to have a club to follow but an elete league like the nrl would be something special to watch imo.I agree though it is just dreaming unless sky tv and probably french tv take it on |

You can't run a league with an odd number of games and an odd number of teams. It is mathematically impossible.
By season's end, one team will have played one game less than the rest. You'd have to cancel the Magic Weekend.
I sincerely hope the RFL's back up plan isn't to run with 13 teams because they clearly wouldn't have thought this through. |

Yeah, sorry. As I don't follow SL these days I had forgotten that it was a league round with points at stake, I had it in mind as a one off weekend jolly.  |

We could just not have an odd number of games. That would be a pretty simple solution. |

I would rather just keep London, if they are not competitive in 2 years they will be relegated into the championship and then they can rebuild as a part time team. Making one guy pay millions of pounds a year to keep them going is unfair so you can tell why he has had enough.
Everything coming out of Red Hall at the moment has been terrible so I am sure they will come up with something crazy. The trend is that they are undoing everything good done in the last 20 years. So London dropping out will be announced along with a move back to Winter and P&R.
If they do drop out you would say that 13 is a good option as it would reduce the shock of moving to 12 teams. Not being able to have the Magic weekend is a bonus as it is a complete waste of time. But it is Fat Nigs baby so I am sure it will be made to work even if it doesn't.

Is there any point to the Magic Weekend these days? It failed miserably with regard to it's primary mission of spreading the gospel beyond the boundaries of the M62 did it not? So why are we still persisting with it? Why hasn't the failed project been scrapped?
