| although i loved going to those places (Leigh's 'mint-ball' adverts, Thrum Halls hill of a pitch, the weather at the Sheddings!) you can see straight away that those grounds wouldnt have lasted another 20yrs and in many cases, were serious liabilities for the clubs involved.

further im sure corproate revenues have skyrocketed with the many corporates boxes new grounds have
no contest really
if english RL wanted to grow the quicker it got rid of old grounds, the better
and the process is almost complete now with wigan, warrington, hull all having new grounds, craven park and headingly getting upgrades and saints, salford in the process of building new grounds
if you want memories open up a book
the game needs to attract more types than just middle aged men, and many familiies wouldnt go to those old c%%pholes
i read so many good things about those old grounds, and only saw black and white photos which made them look better
those colour photos were terrible'"
Really, nothing to do with Leigh being an NL1 side you dimwit.

| Well I'm converted
Plastic no frills rugby, played by plastic robot players, watched by plastic people, eating plastic food, drinking plastic beer in plastic containers, going to plastic toilets all in a plastic stadium with no atmosphere.
I've seen the future.
I'm convinced.
Why on earth did it take RL so long to see the light?

that isnt a health and safety deathtrap and liability costing more to maintain year on year that it could ever hope to make in income and hence, without any scope for improvement.

I agree. What it took in the 1990s was a recognition that the game was financially buggered, with decreasing attendances, run down stadiums and a society that had moved ahead of the sport by a decade or more.

You're another one who just doesn't ' get it ' , do you , if we all wanted to sit down in a comfortable seat with the best views of the game , we could just stay at home and do it , unfortunatley thats what the majority now choose to do
The soul has gone from the sport , virtually all the stadia built now are the same , they lack atmpsphere unless they are almost full , in many you no longer have the choices you had before to stand or sit where you wanted to , which stadium draws the biggest support ? , then one that is almost unchanged for 60 odd years , the one that gives you the option of standing or sitting either alongside or at the end of the pitch , the one with old style food and drink vending
And one last thing , the toilets in new stadia are not plastic , try stainless steel , believe me the females fans at Leigh much prefer the toilets at Hilton park than the LSV , visiting the LSV is very similar to visiting a modern prison in that respect

| Mount Pleasant is still the best place to visit in RL. Especially in summer.
Great selection of proper good food, at affordable prices. Decent drinks you can buy without feeling ripped off. A bloody beer garden behind the stand for gods sake Best away day in RL. Who cares about the slope!

I agree. A great day out. Time before last - they had a rock band playing out of the back of a lorry in the beer car park. Great friendly atmosphere and the stand at the top end of the slope provides a cracking atmosphere. I love this fixture.

It is the most popular away venue in the Championships , the whole set up is excellent , Real food and beer , priced properly so you actually enjoy it rather than just eat it , a good tidy stadium without being too big to generate an atmosphere with a thousand in attendance

Bazza - you're a prick. It certainly isn't the type of venue which you frequent - Kylie would never appear here.
