Quote: Gaslight "Having just checked, it has less seats and a lower capacity, so how does it have more terracing & seats etc?'"

Cas have more seats than Salford? Not a chance. Mind you, the trouble is at both clubs that they're all empty most weeks.

Wasn't Cas allowed to stay in Super League on the fact that they built a new stadium?

So if this is the case as they have yet to start then they are one of the fav's to go down.

Now for years its been all talk from Cas about the ground. It should have been up and running 5 years ago. Yet they are still messing about.

What the RFL said in 2008

Quote: limited and old fashioned "Castleford's Wheldon Road ground, The Jungle, was deemed to be "limited and old fashioned" though well maintained'"

Quote: limited and old fashioned "The club's ground, The Willows, was assessed to be "limited and old fashioned" despite having good corporate and disabled facilities'"

It seems to be pretty much a nothing argument to me.

Congrats Widnes. I'm glad Fax are still getting a look in, although I doubt they will be successful. I think it's fairly certain it will be a straight swap for Wakey, but who knows what will happen between now and July.

Congratulations to Widnes, and in particular to O'Connor et al for putting the work into the club and delivering a superb bid. Fully deserved. It was never in doubt because Widnes did all the necessary work.

As for Fax, the RFL have attoned for their silly timetabling of this license renewal by giving their bid the chance to stand up to other SL clubs bids. Time will tell whether they will come in, but they're certainly still in the mix.

Well done Widnes eusa_clap.gif make the most of this oppotunity.

You were the obvious choice as you complied with everything asked & Red Hall will be delighted as the attendance figures will sky rocket as your fans travel away in numbers that a new team will & home gates will be very healthy also.

Unlucky Fax hope you get the July nod the the same reasons above plus it will shake everything up nicely and make any "still dithering clubs" pull their fingers out, leading to a vibrent SL a046.gif .

Hope Barrow have learnt enough from this and have the plans laidout to follow for the next round.
PS Can we get a refund on the candles we bought en masse icon_ask.gif

Good luck to Widnes, As for all the arguments about who is going My thoughts are that no one will go, Fax may get in as Super League expands to 16? I am not basing this on much but I also expect to hear that there will be at least one new championship side (South London storm at a guess) & maybe one french side. It is no secret that the RFL have been asking for bids to join the championship & that they would like to go to two divisions of 12 bteams if it is possible.

Congratulations to Widnes and I kind of hope that Halifax will be in too (although, I am not sure about their finances).

I have no axe to grind with any club currently in Super League, so it will be interesting to see who gets the chop. I wonder what people's reactions would be though if they did get rid of Crusaders? I also wonder if this is something that might have been discussed with the people in charge at Cru. Perhaps, they are looking for ways to reduce the amount needed to invest in the club each year?

No, the naive and easily pleased would feel vindicated.

Only idiots with the benefits of hindsight would look back on a failure and feel their cynicism vindicated.

If it comes to pass that Crusaders fail, it still doesnt mean it was wrong to try.

Quote: fatboystu "IIRC back in the days when Super League were a concept, part of skys agreement to pump money in was that London HAD to have a team. now i dont know if this is still true but if it is, they're safe.'"

Depends if they still believe a 'london club' makes any difference.
