Hundreds of thousands of Man U fans block voting didn't harm his chances.

| Didn't even bother watching it, their coverage of RL is pathetic and with Warrington winning the CC we should have at least got a mention and a bit of coverage.
sky should do a sports personality award night and see how that compares.

| It was far better when it was The Sports Review of the Year and the voting was done by post.

| That Tiger Woods has been on telly a lot lately, I thought he might have been in with a shout.

| I was personally thankful for the awards night. Saved me watching the poop that was on ITV. Though I was relegated to the bedroom.
There is a great deal of anti any sport other than RL on this site. That might be to be expected, but I am a RL fan who also considers himself to be a sports fan as well.
I felt the awards were just about right last night.
Young sportsman had to be Daley. World Champ in a highly skilled sport at his age.
Team I would have given to the ladies Cricket team as they have swept all before them.
Personality was spot on. Once you take away the anti football blinkers and think about what Giggs achieved this year at the age of 36 when he is competing with players half his age is frankly fantastic. It is testimony to how well he has conducted himself both on and off the field and dedicated himself to his sport. Yes its a team game but to remain at the top for the best part of 20 years and still be a stand out player in a team who won two top trophies and reached the final of the top club competition is amazing.
As for the others. Well Button has been dedicated to his sport as well and if he had possibly done a little better in the later half of his season may have stood a chance of winning.
Ennis again dedicated and to fight back from Olympic disappointment and rise to the top was brilliant. The rest would have all been worthy winners.
Seve has always been a hero of mine and it was great to see him take an award.
RL got about as much as it could have hoped for. The beeb show very little RL now that we have sold our sole to Sky. We are never going to compete on programmes like this with Football, Union , Cricket, Athletics and snooker as they are the sports that the beeb love the most. Equally to throw our dummies out of the window and bemoan the lack of RL is totally childish. Its a programme and night for all sports fans.

I thought it was pretty well balanced - in real terms nothing major happened in RL this year. I don't think anyone could argue that RL deserved to be above any of the longer features from the night. At least our segment was better than the club RU segment which was 80% about Bloodgate
We need to get over this victim mentality - some people won't be happy until SPOTY is presented by Eddie and Stevo.

| Didn't watch it and frankly who cares? As for the comment about the beeb "showing little RL now we have sold our sole to sky"....please explain the saturation coverage of cricket, Union, soccer etc all of which have 'sold their souls' also. RL being on SKY has knack all to do with lack of coverage, it's just not 'one of the gang' and that's all there is to it.
