| Quote Geekay="Geekay"I think from your posts that you haven't any experience of other than SL and most of your comments to pyeman's post could also be directed at SL clubs. If SL clubs are struggling with the Sky handouts they get then how do you think Championship clubs manage to keep going?
You talk about why should central funds be given to clubs who don't pay their bills which is exactly what happened when London Broncos became Harlequins, isn't it?
You need to get into the real world and stop knocking the good men (and women) who work damned hard to keep the game of rugby league going outside the comfort zone that is SL.'"
Try not to think, you do not seem to have an apptitude for it. Others have pointed out why your comments re the broncos are clueless.
If you coud read my posts you will see that the only people I 'knock' are senior manegers who spend far more than they can afford and then end up owing money on taxes or hide behind CVA. If you ant to defend such people go ahead.

| Latest at Oldham is Chris Hamilton (CEO 25% share holder) has agreed to buy out Bill Quinn (75% share holder) for an undisclosed fee, to be paid on a future agreed date.
In the short term I think this is the only way out of this for Oldham. I suspect once this agreement is signed the £47, 000 to the tax will be paid avoiding the winding up. Then we carry on until the next crisis.
See you soon!

| Quote Andy Gilder="Andy Gilder"If Sky lost the rights to SL in 2010 (say to a free-to-air broadcaster) but retained the rights to games at levels below SL, how many people do you think would retain their Sky Sports subscriptions just so they could watch Championship and Championship One games?
SL brings the overwhelming majority of rugby league orientated subscribers to Sky, so it receives the overwhelming majority of the funds from the TV rights.'"
I'm not against it recieving the overwhelming majority of tv monies, in fact i am saying it should, but that championship level clubs should also recieve a percentage of that money that is free to spend however they wish, i think 10% of the next sky deal to be spread out between all championship clubs would be fair.

Hopefully the club can now move on to a brighter future.

| In reply to whoever it was that asked was it Oldham Bears that played in the WCC. Yes it was. They were one of only two or three British clubs who actually won a game against Australian opposition.

| Quote Marsdengiant="Marsdengiant"Can you see how illogical your statement is? probably not.
Also the pooling and distribution of funds is beyond your understanding. so lets pretend the £100K the clubs get is funded by the fairies
'"
It wasn't illogical in the slightest. I asked how much of the money CC1 & CC clubs get is from SKY. TB stated the £100k was from SKY. You didn't give an amount in your previous responses so we can only assume you didn't know how much cam from SKY. You could have just said you didn't know. Instead you just went on to confirm most peoples suspicions of you.

But how many clubs do you actually think 'took up' the offer when considering the strings attached to said £100,000? Particularly when bearing in mind that the wage of a full-time CEO would take a hefty chunk of said £100,000.

| Quote pyeman="pyeman"Apart from the money they get to appoint certain fulltime backroom staff what money do they get? how much money do championship clubs get that they can decide how it is spent? Why is the idea of putting more lower league games on sky ridiculous? last time i saw the figures they were getting about 60% of the viewing figures for saturday sl games, are you seriously telling me that sky cant make a profit with vieing figures like this? its far from there least viewed sporting entertainment.
[apart from £100K what do they get? You are joking surely.
maybe a mere £100k means nothing to your club? i doubt Sky would make money out of C games - but if you can tell them how I am sure they would be keen to find out
Only a handful in of clubs in sl would actually need that 75k and it would do far more down in the lower leagues than it would in sl. how the hell do you know what that money will be spent on? and if that money is used to keep the club afloat in hard times then it is money well spent. You dont think better playing standards and more local players would result in more attending and more player sponsorship? how strange. And in a league where the cap is 300k 75 k or a proportion of it will make a differance, its the equivelent of a sl club being given several hundred thousand.
[This la la land idea that the '£75k' would go on youngsters and this would build crowds and bring in sponsors is like 'business for dummies'. Get real. If it is that easy and straightforward clubs could secure private funds and guarentee returns.I wonder why it does not happen?
Plenty of sl clubs have run up debts but have had sky money to help pay them off, something which championship clubs do not get.
[Which SL clubs have been bailed out with sky / central funds money they were not entitled to?

You said that because I did not give the figures that it followed that I did not know if c clubs got sky money. the first point does not logically determine the 2nd. It is an illogical conclusion to draw from your 1st comment.
People have suspicions about me? Goodness, what dull lives they have. They should get out more.
