| There are a lot of different combinations in the forwards that I would be happy with, we are fairly strong in that department.
One of the main problems we have is the kicking game in the halves. Moore at 9 has a boot on him but we need more than that, and the only halfback with a kicking game good enough is Danny Brough, unless we put Sinfield in at 6, which I would rather not do. McGuire at 6 with Tomkins in reserve.
Of the backs, Hall is the only certainty. We should beg and plead Senior to come out of retirement, especially with Atkins and Kev Brown out aswell. As it is it has to be Gleeson and Shenton, Pryce as cover. Fox for the other wing and Pryce at full back with Cudjoe as cover for both.
Pryce
Fox
Gleeson
Shenton ( Senior )
Hall
McGuire
Brough
Graham
Moore
Peacock
Ellis
Burgess
O'Loughlin
Roby/Burrow
Carvell
Morley
Wild

| 1) Cudjoe - seems worth a shot
2) Fox
3) Shenton - deserves a chance
4) Pryce - could be a decent centre if he applied himself (has the ability)
5) Hall
6) Tomkins - form standoff
7) ? Nobody I can think of who is good enough so suppose it will have to be Burrow (who I don't really rate) or Myler (who may be over hyped)
8') Graham
9) Moore
10) Peacock
11) Ellis
12) O'Loughlin - don't really rate him either, but he's a worker, as long as he keeps the high shots down.
13) Westerman
14) Burgess - impact prop/2nd row
15) Morley - impact prop, has matured a bit, but time is not on his side
16) Roby - impact hooker
17) Westwood - not really good enough, but at least he tries
Not considered:
Purdham - needs operation, Atkins - would have tried him as a winger but he needs op too, Senior and Gleeson - time to give others a go, even though Senior is probably still worth a go, Gleeson isn't. Briscoe - not even as good as Wellens, and Wellens shortcomings on international stage won't go away.

| Im all for giving youth a go but there's no point picking players who are blatantly worse. I rate Atkins and Shenton for example but neither are as good as Gleeson.
If Senior cant be talked out of retirement Pryce and Gleeson should get the shirts

| The reason Pryce left Bradford was so he could play 6. Playing him at centre would be completely idiotic.

Gleeson has offered nothing in attack this season for both wire and wigan, both shenton and atkins have done far better in attack, in defence sshenton has at the very least matched gleeson and atkins hasnt performed that much worse than gleeson. gleeson in the past has been a great centre who i have admired but his form this season is just a shadow of what he was once capable of. Would rather give lawrence a go than gleeson as he has played better than gleeson this season.
As for pryce, when was the last time he played centre?

He's been anonymous at 6 at this level.

| I rate Shenton as a prospect.
But you did watch your team on Sunday didn't you?
Gleeson popped up everywhere and looked dangerous, Shenton looked like a lost boy and was annonymous.
When it counts, Gleesons still the better player and not exactly too old.

Shenton hardly got any ball, which makes it hard to look dangerous. Gleeson didnt play as well as most of the wigan backs, and has hardly been able to score a tries all season.
Gleeson has gone backwards as a player, which is a shame because he was a fantastic centre, once.

| This talk of Pryce reminded me of a quote from Nathan Hindmarsh in 2006 I think it was"I've got nothing against him or anyone else from England. In fact, I don't even know who he is," he said. "Apparently he plays five-eighth for his club and wing for Great Britain. It's a pity he doesn't want to come out here, it would be interesting to see how he goes on the wing." Hindmarsh again with a great quote that put a nothing like Pryce in his place.
I love the veiled backhander, you might be good enough to play five-eight in England, but over here you'd just be a bloody winger.
I think the same still applies although I think there are a million worse Poms you could pick to play at fullback.

| I have always said.....
Give me a bucket.
Fill it with sand.
Shove a mop in the bucket.
There, you have a fullback more capable than Paul Wellens!
