| Quote: TURFEDOUT "I thought this thread was you asking the RFL to stick to the criteria and not let Winterstein in because as you, in bold letters pointed out, he hadnt played for Samoa.
But wait- he has.
So instead i will make use of the fact that i made an incorrect comment and start spewing my anti Wakefield crap, just to cover up the fact i got it wrong in the first place. Thus ensuring your glaring error is lost in pages and pages of drivel.'"
i thanked you for the link to the cutting.
I still think it is a shambles to resort to signing a reserve grader. You seem to think otherwise. so be it.

Bringing players through the Academy from their early teens does'nt count.
No neither of the March's started at Cas
Back up that statement and show me the list of players from Bradford, Hull FC, Cas, and Warrington that is significantly better than Wakefields.
10 years in Super League for Wakefield, and as I stated it takes time to develop a SL quality youth system, you don't get one off the shelf at Tesco fella.
Your motives for being in this discusion have become way too transparent with some of these claims.'"
Bradford,
Pryce, Fielden, Peacock, Pryce, Reardon, Ferres, Bridge, Burgess, Langley, Cook, Atkins, Halley, Carlile, Flanagan are all playing in SL right now
Hull
Yeaman, Horne, Horne, Washbrook, King, Houghton, Briscoe, Lee, Hall, Cooke, Radford, Burnett, Dixon are all playing SL right now
Cas
Lynch, Boyle, Westerman, Owen, Shenton, Huby, Orr, Godwin,
bored of listing things, the point is clearly made

Am I? To you and your like minded fellow posters. Oh dear.
Back to topic. How does signing a reserve grader from Oz with only 4/5 games develop RL in the UK. What signal dos it send to kids trying to break through into first teams?
i think people like Drew have proven themselves in Oz and can teach youngsters here. But Winterstein

What point, that wakey actually stack up quite well using your own info as comparison?
Westwood, Mason, Blaymire, Brough, Snitch, Ferguson, Pitts, Bibb, Murphy Griffin, Blake......all playing in Super League right now!

I dont think ive actuallty stated whether i agree with it or not, because i thought the topic was about the RFL sticking to criteria.
However it has diversified.
FWIW,Im not convinced that it is a good move, purely on the grounds that its another over seas player.
Unfortunately that is not the only grounds for making the decision to bring him over.
Is there a player of similar ability and potential that is Available and British, quite possibly - Will he sign for the same money? Possibly not.
So looking at it from a financial prospective the overseas player may be worth more of a gamble than the British player.
Im not saying its right ,but i can understand why we still have fringe NRL players coming over.

| Oh boo freakin hoo...
This board sometimes gets too full of arrogant planks who won't listen to either side of an argument, hence we have 8 pages saying the same bleedin thing.
Can tell i've had a bad day, FWIW I don't particularly agree with the signing but I understand their reasons, can see their point of view and aren't going to spend an hour of my life sat arguing the toss about it.
Besides Wakey are working hard to rectify issues that maybe were there a few years back and like most clubs moving in the right direction.
I suggest old Smokey finds a hobby

| Didnt Hull FC sign a relatively unknown prop from Aus recently, cant remember his name. But i dont remember them getting aload of flack for it.
I take into account HullFC have an excellent record in junior development.

Yep, you're right, you didn't avoid the question at all.
Oh, I'm sure a certain Michael Korkidas was a NRL reserve grader and perhaps still would be if he was on the books of an NRL club!

42850_1303637344.jpg WE ARE WAKEFIELD, WITHOUT THE RICHARDSONS’ WE ARE STRONGER:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_42850.jpg |

| Wakefield have been short of a big second row forward with an off load game since Solomona left. Now I am not for one minute suggesting that this kid is the next Solomona (before someone jumps in), but he has the attributes mentioned above that tend to be more prevalent in the South Sea Islanders than UK born players.
The guy is still relatively young and his style of play is probably more suited to the Superleague than the NRL (which is more defensively orientated). Lets save opinion on the validity of the signing until he has actually arrived and can be judged on his performances on the field.

There's 8 pages of an argument provoked by two Hudds fans with an agenda, backed by a Leeds fan with an ego and fallen for by a few of our lot, no place for common sense here
