| Quote caslad75="caslad75"I've read that a few times myself and come to the conclusion that it must mean that these 'biggest live events' will be exclusive to the Main Event Channel, which will only be available to those with all Sports Channels. I may be wrong, but thats how I've interpreted it. The question is 'what are these biggest live events' going to be?'"
"Main Event channel: is a bonus channel showing live content from the other Sky Sports channels at the same time as it is available on such channels. Only available with the Sky Sports Complete Pack."

| That's the question we're pondering-
If the Main Event channel is only available to those who already have the other sports channels, and it only shows the same sports too, what is the point of it (unless it shows some exclusive content) ?

| It's either the main event channel has exclusive content. Or the main event channel isn't available exclusively to full sports package customers and can be subscribed to on its own.

The main event channel will simulcast the big events taking place on the other channels. It's only available to those who subscribe to all channels. It's just a way of being able to access all the major events through one place so you don't have to keep changing flicking between them.
You can't subscribe to it.

| I wonder if they've reduced their commercial rates for pubs etc ?
My local pub dropped Sky Sports due to the high cost (I live in a village) but I'm sure they'd take up the Premier League package if it was a reasonably lower price than before.

| It's already begun, Amazon Prime are streaming the NFL Thursday night games from next season.
Quote TheUnassumingBadger="TheUnassumingBadger"Super League definitely needs to be looking at alternative deals for TV when the rights come around. Personally I think Sky are stuck 20 years in the
past. Amazon are already looking at buying the rights to the IPL cricket apparently and if they or Google or any of the other tech firms look at buying Premier League rights, Sky can't compete and I think it will be end of them as a company.
It's easy to envisage buying a season pass to stream sports like they already have in the US, it would be great if something like that was available for Super League, a couple of live matches a week and access to recordings of all the other matches, I would certainly pay more for that than I would for Sky Sports.'"

| I guess the difference is that Amazon will just be buying a broadcast from another provider to stream.
If Sky wasn't broadcasting RL, then someone would have to pick up the broadcasting and production side of things, which is where the overheads come in and cost/subscription price increases.
I didn't watch RFL streamed England match, but I guess it didn't have the same production values as when Sky or the BBC show live games. Likewise the BBC streaming of the CC early rounds was enjoyable, but was predominately just a single fixed camera.
