It is hilarious that you want Danny Brough playing for England despite the fact he has represented another nation in a full international yet dont want Rangi Chase playing for England because he played for a select X1. Chase isnt playing for NZ because he is playing for England.

I was actually drawing a distinction there between English and British. I have nothing, no identification, which states I am English. I have plenty which say I am British but i choose to identify as English.

There is nothing English about Heighington. Reed and Tollett were born here so that makes them English in my eyes. Just so I make myself clear, I only want English players in the England team, regardless of who they play for. As for Brough, he should have been the England scrum half as he is the best we have, but he forfeited that right when he turned out for Scotland. No player should ever be allowed to play for 2 countries.

Thats a very naive view of the world. Jack Reed has spent more time in Aus than in the UK, he has spent about as much time in the uk as Rangi Chase. People move. It would be crazy to force Chase to play for a different national side to the rest of his family and the place where he lives.

I have no idea why anyone would want to 'restrict' Englishness. Anybody who wants to join us is welcome.

I think the suggestion that it reflects a lack of investment in youth or underlies England's perceived failures is probably a fallacy (albeit the latter is endorsed by the RFL).
What I do think is worth considering is that I think SL is looking like becoming the CanadianFL to the NRL's NFL. The motto of the CFL is 'This is our league'.
The overseas players bring a lot to SL, and I want to see a mix, but i think there is an argument for more homegrown players better representing the communities in which the clubs are based. Maybe.

Do you think Rangi Chase is going to live in this country for ever? I will put a large wager on the fact that as soon as his RL career in this country ends he will go back over to New Zealand/Aus. His only allegiance presently to this country is it gives him a good living (exactly the same as Faasavalu) (sp), it makes life easier for him re working here following his assault conviction and finally there's the fact he wouldn't get in the NZ side in his preferred position. So spare us the different national side to the rest of his family crap.
