"Leeds is the greatest club in Rugby League" Alex Murphy 2011:

I predict Shaun Wane will have a new list of excuses for why "Micky Mac" shouldn't have been sent off for punching/decapitating someone, Leeds will be crowned Grand final winners from the lofty position of 3rd, Warrington will run out of cod liver oil tablets for their old guard halfway through the season and everyone will have forgotten who were League Leaders in 2012.

The only think I can confidently predict at this stage is that the top 6 will remain the same. Warrington are probably my pick for the league leaders shield, I expect Saints n Wigan to be neck n neck, Manu will bring a new dimension to St Helens and Wigan look weaker. Leeds will be up there as usual and Hull have a lot more strength in depth compared to last year, if we keep the forwards fit I see no reason why we can't trouble the top 4. Catalans, Hudds, Bradford n Rovers will make up places 6-9. Be interesting to see how Wakefield go after breaking into the top 8 last year but I think they'll just miss out this time around, Cas have strengthed but I can't see them making an assault on the top 8 (although I'd like to seem do well) and Salford, Widnes n London will probaby be the bottom 3.

I think that Nathan Brown will really improve St. Helens. His arrival, combined with Wigan's loss of key players and recruitment, explains their finishing positions in the table. I think that London will have a good year. The signing of Tony Rea as permanent head coach, and their recruitment, leads me to believe they could sneak into the play-offs. I don't think Huddersfield will have a very good year. But, I don't believe there is a team good enough to replace them in the play-offs.

For us, I'm hoping for a top four finish but I get the feeling we may fall just short. Despite who we have recruited, the lack of a good scrum-half, again, to play with Daniel Holdsworth may hamper our challenge. I'm really hoping for a good cup run. I believe that's a real possibility and something we've not had for a few years now.

You not rate Brett Seymour then?

When he first came over, I thought he showed glimpses of what he could do. But his confidence level just plummeted, partly due to the management I believe, and it was just one bad game after another. Plus, with the very vocal noises coming from Adam Pearson on where he's taking us as a club, he's definitely not good enough if we intend to challenge the major players.

I thought he was going to be a big signing when he came over, despite his bad behaviour. To me, he looks a bit on the chunky side for a scrum half.

As with all of the others, he was going to be the quality scrum-half we've craved for years. But, it's just not worked out. If he is going to be our scrum-half this year, as it looks, I hope he gives it his all and doesn't become disheartened again.

Not necessarily in that order but be surprised if teams finish outside those groups.
I reckon any of the teams in the middle group could make the playoffs, depending on injuries but equally any of them could miss out.

Holdsworth should be a good signing, he's proven in SL, although with a lesser club. He ran Salford last season, their loss is definitely Hull's gain.
