NRL expansion? Sometime soon, maybe......:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_9857.jpg |
|
| we have until 2013. Then the NRL gets a serious salary cap and with tax loopholes and the pound in the drain plus two new teams to fill no Aussies are going to be coming to the SL to play.

I reckon the new Queensland side will go well but I'm not sure about the Central Coast bears JB...

More Brits going out there too. Economics is going to make the quota increasingly irrelevant, it would seem.
More UK players in the NRL and (even a diminished) SL will be good for the England team. Personally I think SL will be fine - we're 2nd now, we'll just be a more distant 2nd. People want to see competitive, entertaining games and if we can retain that despite losing quality it'll be fine, IMO.

Don't stress JB. After tomorrow you will never have to read a Barrington Bradman Bing McKenzie post again
I'm currently praying to the omnipotent being that is Paul Gallen that your fellow countrymen at Heathrow T3 will get off their pommie backsides and shovel all the snow off the runway in order my plane can take off tomorrow night... but the way things are looking I might have to try praying to Andrew Ettingshausen as well... I think this might be beyond Gal...

Sorry Gutters but Barry McKenzie won't be able to watch much NRL or its poorer relation SL whilst living in the land of the free owing to the fact it's about as popular in the USA as Julian Assange is with the US Government over there right now.
Barry McKenzie feels he has a duty to all his fans right here on the forum to provide quality and up to date information about all things footy. Sadly I wont be able to watch much NRL and therefore wont be able to report back on how poorly little pommie sam and Gareth Eliss are getting on...even though I probably don't need to.
Therefore it is with much regret that Barry McKenzie will not be posting on these boards again.
Of course I will be available via email for any issues or queries that a straight link to a SMH webpage posted by Dolly Massager wont help you with.

Really? I would have thought that after living in London for the better part of a year you would be used to an enviroment where nobody is interested in League.
I mean to say, you have been able to comment on the state of the NRL and ESL without actually even going to the ground nearest to you to watch the only Pro ESL team on offer in London, so how is this different to being in the USA? I am sure there are plenty of bars frquented by other Single Australian Men that you can go to and watch the Sharkies getting hammered every week without having to get up at 6am to do it......so in reality bazza, there is no difference between where you are now and where you are going to next.......

Thats a good point Gutters.
I don't have the TV ratings for RL in the USA but from what I've seen on telly there during recent trips unless it involves shooting a ball through a hoop, driving big cars around an oval, playing baseball or wearing padding, a helmet and shouting 'hut hut' a lot those Seppos don't want to know about it.
