| Quote: Tuco "Also the one where the ref calls held as a player passes the ball has been amended to a ptb to the team in possession rather than an opposition scrum-about time too.'"
It's never been an automatic scrum to the opposition, it's always been a scrum to the attacking team. They have changed the definition of "attacking team".

| I thought it was a scrum to the team in their oppositions half?

| I thought you good always drop kick a conversion. I'm sure it came up in a pub quiz, "when is a drop kick worth two points?"

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| Further changes will see match officials instructed to adopt a more lenient approach to players who carry on playing after the referee has called “held” in a tackle. Instead of awarding a penalty, referees will now instruct players to return to the position on the pitch where the call was initially made and play the ball.
At last , as the earlier post I also thought the rule for a drop goal was already in place , it might make for some interesting few minutes at the end of tight matches

IIRC, Chris Thorman tried this for Huddersfield a few years ago because they were running out of time but was told it had to be a place kick.

| Can't see the drop goal conversion being of much use. Don't you have 60 secs to take a conversion now, then the clock stops? If you rush the kick presumably it will just allow the defending side more time to amble to the kick-off, so what's the point? Or will the clock be stopped once the kick has been taken?
Corner flag rule seems to have worked well in the NRL, but how many of the decisions go to the video ref? We only have tv replays at the 2 Sky games every weekend, so could be difficult to rule on in non televised matches.

But less difficult than before , at least the touch judges now only have to look for contact with the floor , rather than both floor and flag

You think our touchies can manage that? Also, what happens now when the ball hits the corner flag? Is it still in play?

46042.jpg [quote="Bonzo":23qz4bj5]Corrected.
Incidentally, an exclamation mark ends a sentence and does not require a full stop. The first letter of the next word begins a new sentence and should therefore be capitalised. [i:23qz4bj5]Who needs flankers[/i:23qz4bj5]' grammar was actually correct.
HTH.

| will reducing 2 interchanges have a massive effect on game plans etc?
maybe reduce small spells by Paleasena (sp) types and possibly have some players doing longers spells, not the same speed and intensity i know but amateur only have 6 and their hardly highly trained athlete types at local level

It was, effectively, as if you were in the oppositions half you were deemed to be the attacking team, regardless of possession. They've fortunately now changed that outdated piece of law. But it wasnt automatically a scrum to the opposition, it depended where you were on the field.
