The NRL Preliminary Finals are a good example of how playing in small stadiums limits your attendance.
It has taken a few years to build, but the message is clear - play at big stadia, advertise it everywhere and promote it hard. In that way, we have seen the 2nd prelim in the NRL grow to over 70,000 two years in a row from a base much lower than that.
And with four different teams involved.
Anyone at the RFL listening, observing, watching etc.?

Great crowds. Play-offs are the climax of the season and an integral part of the sporting culture down there unlike here. The weekly rounds are a warm-up to the play-offs and the crowd figures reflect that. Over here the crowds aren't even as big as weekly rounds because they're not on the season tickets. I'm sure our Grand Final will sell out now though, it probably wouldn't have if Leeds had won tonight.
