Why is he such an idiot? I'm still hopeful that he'll eventually turn Salford around but he could have done it so much quicker, easier and better if he'd actually listen to people like Hetherington & McDermott.

I think there's a lot you can learn from an ex-Royal Marine, Great Britain player and very successful SL coach in terms of leadership.

And anyone trying to build a club would be daft not to at least listen to Gary Hetherington.

I've no idea what his motives are and an outburst like that does nothing but harm him, his club and Super League's reputation.

Wasn't it Leeds who started this outburst? Brian may have said the words but was Gary behind it? What motives or agendas do they have against Marwan. Plenty of teams have been on the wrong end of a red hot Leeds this season but Brian chose to blame Salford defeat on Marwan.

McDermott passed comment on the way Koukash had referred to his staff and players numerous times in the media in disparaging terms, that it probably wasn't the best way to motivate them and the negative publicity that brought to the sport in general.

I very much doubt, as big a stick as our CEO wields around LS6, that he could get the head coach to say that in an interview if he didn't want to. Would you like to tell Brian McDermott that he has to be your mouthpiece?

If you think people at Leeds have an agenda against someone as insignificant in terms of a sporting challenger as Marwan or Salford, then you're sadly deluded.

People can question whether McDermott should've said it but I very seriously doubt he said "yes Gary, I'll say whatever you want me to say."

Plus if Hethrington wanted to say that I doubt he wouldn't have minded doing it himself, earlier in the year when the marquee rule was accepted he said something about Marwan along the lines of "put up or shut up" in reference to Koukash constant boasts about the likes of a Burgess or SBW to sign for Salford.

At the time of McDermott's attack as well quite a few were asking what agenda did he have for do it and hardly anyone stopped to say the obvious one.....perhaps he just simply thinks Koukash is owner who needs to stop acting like an idiot in public as it makes the sport look continuously stupid with his almost weekly dramas that occur at his club.

If anything, I suspect GH would have preferred McDermott to have kept quiet. Not that I think he'd be really too bothered either way.

I'm not a Leeds fan so I have no natural bias to defend BM; but his comments sounded to me like he felt genuinely sorry for the players involved - he strikes me as someone who understands the rigours that SL players put themselves through on a weekly basis and perhaps believes that they deserve to treated with a bit more respect than MarwanK appears able to muster. If that's an agenda, then it's a reasonable one to have in my view.

Grumpy old git he may be, but he has forgotten more about RL than Koukash will ever know.

As a Salford fan, my optimism for MK poducing the good is still there, however I'm considerably less optimistic than at thr start if his reign. However I do beleive GH has underlying issues with MK. GH has had too much influence on the people at the top in our game for too long and MK sussed it out in next to no time and voiced his concerns. Maybe that is why GH has issues and doesn't like the apple cart being upset.

As for MK outburst, some of the stuff I agree with what he says and sometimes I cringe at what he says, Sheens impact seems to be having a calming influence on MK, we haven't seen any social media blurts. We have seen this with the Chase saga also recently he's quoted as saying he has no dealing with the playing anymore (thank god) and is leaving everything upto Sheens, Watson and Gleeson. So hopeully the penny may hae dropped, unfortunately he is outspoken, love him or hate him, and because of such, you will get media outlets also chasing the next story from Koukash with interviews etc

He's also got a personal connection with a number of players currently on Salford's books.

He coached Jones-Bishop, Hauraki, Darrell Griffin and Liam Hood at Leeds. He played alongside Adrian Morley at Bradford.

I'd be very surprised if he isn't intimately aware of what has gone on behind the scenes at Salford. RL is a relatively tight family, and people keep in touch even when they've moved on to other clubs.

Koukash should learn a few lessons from Richard Branson. The Virgin boss is arguably an even bigger media whore than he is. The difference is that Branson's forays into newsprint and TV are controlled, skillfully-crafted and cleverly designed to achieve the maximum positive return.

Marwan's attempts, on the other hand, have all the deftness, wit and sophistication of a punch to the face.
