| I'm afraid it doesn't matter what side of the London/expansion argument you stand o these figures are disastrous for the club and the game. My personal belief is that if someone is willing to foot the bill then attendances are not the be all and end all - what does it matter so long as players etc are paid. However there is a cut off point where it's no longer just low attendances but utter disinterest and thus no hope for the future. If London were getting 2000+ and things were stabilising then ok, not great but ok.
Sadly the truth is that there are a number of clubs - all northern or French - who deserve a shot now. It simply isn't fair on better run and better loved teams that they are not getting a chance. Toulouse, Halifax, Featherstone or maybe that elusive Cumbrian super team all offer more.
Some would suggest a smaller SL, me I'm happy with 16 as I believe Salford will recover and any of the three mentioned would eventually make a mark.
When you consider Featherstone is little more than a street then it just shows the utter lack of interest in football mad London.
I'm trying to be positive here so....
...let the Broncos drop to the Championship and along with the Skolars offer two very good semi-pro teams and rebuild from there.

| So when Wigan were an embaressment to the sport in the early 80s getting barely 4 or 5k at home in the biggest hotbed/most successful area of rugby league should they have been binned off into the 2nd division again for poor attendances?

| It's been a bit longer than a decade with London, but I'm happy for one last roll of the dice.
Drop the London name and make a final move and 3 more years or however long the chairman is prepared to bankrole it.

Wigan were relegated in 1980, then started to build back up. So, er, yes.

| The game was moved a couple of days before it was due to be played. On a Bank Holiday Thursday night to a RU ground in the middle of nowhere
What were Saints crowds like at Widnes some 5 miles away when they moved for the season?

my point is that yet again another RL fan thinks having a low attendance is the reason to bin off a top tier team.
That the biggest team in rugby league history when back in the first division were commanding but a few thousand (& that of Leeds and Bradford too if you like) should give no reason to get rid of London on attendances only.
Comprenez?

| How many northern fans would travel on average an hour and a half to a home game, if not more?. Bigger crowd than i'd thought Broncos would get in the middle of nowhere.

Northern England was destroyed by mines closing in the early 80's and loose change wasn't spent on watching games of RL. What's London's excuse?

Close enough.
Saints average home attendance 2011 (playing at Widnes)
102,274/13 = 7,867
