39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| They have not done you wrong.
You could still get in for next season if you are seen as better than the rest of the clubs in super league.
If not you will rightly take a place in 2015. I know it seems a long way away but it will fly by and the club will grow stronger.

| We won the league last year. We are not in SL. Is this not a sport? If not I think Sport England might have to rethink the funding they give to the RFL!
Also, one of Widnes's poistives was their youth system. We weren't allowed to have scholorships or and U-18's for the past two years, how is that nothing wrong!

| First of all this is nothing against Widnes or the fans and wish them well. But seriously there seems to be more talk about what happens off the field than on it. It seems the RFL do not care what happens on the field they are more interested in who has a shiny stadium or who can claim to have this done or have that done. Rugby League is not a sport any more. Sport should be mainly about what happens on the field. Nigel Wood amongst others made a mess of Fax a few years ago and left before the crap hit the fan. Fax were lucky to survive and were forced into selling everything. Now this same clown is ruining our game with his poor mismanagement. Fans are fed up below SL-not that the RFL seriously care. Why pay 15 Quid or so to watch a game where it does not matter whether you win the League or Grand Final. Seriously Rugby League is a joke. So Leigh, Fax, Fev, Barrow etc dont bother trying to win on the field, just spend all your money getting/having nice stadia, a team that is allegedly full of youth and a sugar daddy.

| Really? Weren't allowed?
or, as the Leigh fans were forced to admit when they made similar complaints, were allowed to run an under 18s - provided you abided by the law of the land on the minimum wage - and could run a scholarship on condition that you privided a clar pathway for development at the end of that (ie an under 18s, which takes us back to the first point)

| And didn't Widnes go bust and allowed to reform only a few years back? Without penalty?

| Halifax met the criteria, if they are not "promoted" in July then it confirms there are more clubs meeting the criteria than places available and there should be a return to annual semi-automatic promotion and relegation

A very good point and surely the whole point of franchising in the first place. Won't hold my breath though.

No, they were willing to pay for it, but they wouldnt let us run an U-18s and Scholarship without an U-23s. We wanted to do U-18s and Scholarship two years ago then all three this year.
Regarding the minimum wage. You are deluded if you think all of the Championship teams are paying minimum wage to their U-18s and U-23s. Whitehaven almost went bust last year but still run an U-23s.

Docked 9 points and it put a fatal hole in their licence bid. This, to you, iw "without penalty"?

| Their license bid wouldn't have worked anyway. The RFL had decided Celtic were in, but thats a conversation for another day.

| Get a grip? The most exiting moment in the last three years for Widnes fans was watching Richard Lewis behind a podium. What has that got to do with sport?

23997_1287161421.jpg
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg |

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

The ' minimum wage only applies to some of your u 18's , not all of them , and it doesn't apply to any other level of RL or any other sport as far as I am aware

Well yes. We're not talking about promoting or relegating a club's first team between the divisions of one competition. We're talking about a club - all of it, not just the first team - leaving its current semi-professional competition and joining a different, professional, comp. So yes, the club as a whole - and the on-field performance of the first team in one of the three competitions it enters is just a small part of the club as a whole - is what's looked at
