| As a person he comes across as an OK bloke.......but as a senior manager.....His extensive CV includes positions with, Sun Alliance, Royal Bank of Scottland, the Scottish Premier League, NFL Europe, Ladbrokes, Southampton Football Club, Surrey County Cricket Club and Hull Kingston Rovers, Harlequins RL and now Surrey Sports Park.
I think he graduated in 1986 with a degree in economics.....and I think started job at Sun Alliance.
He left Sun Alliance in 1990 to join Ladbrooks, then left them to join Royal Bank of Scotland, who he left to Join The Claymores and ENRL. 1998 he left that position to join SPL and then joined Southampton FC in 2000. 2004 he popped up at Surrey CC and then had a job at the Brit Oval (seperate to Surrey CC)....and since then has spent 6 months at HKA, 2 years at Quins RL and is now at Surrey Sports Park..
Sorry, but if that CV dropped on my desk for a job the first question I would ask would be:
"Where do you see yourself in 2 years......?"
11 jobs in 24 years......all salaried. If he was good, he would be hired as a freelance consultant and get twice the cash.....I suspect he is just very good at selling himself!

After Paul Brown had to step down due to illness and prior to Paul BLanchard joining Quins I applied directly to Ian Lenegan with regard to the Marketing Role. My application was warmly received and was passed to the Recruitment/Headhunter company used by the club.........and that was the last I heard of the recruitment company?. IL then emailed me a couple of times and I met with the RFL to discuss the corporate sales role at Quins, but there was an difference of scales of salary
As an experiment (I am in no way qualified to run a business) I applied for the CEO role that was eventually watered down to GM which PB was apointed. This I did solely through the Head hunter/recruitment firm (why do they use these types of people?) and received nothing, not even an email confirming receipt of my CV.
Regardless of what you think of me or my stance regarding Quins RL as a business, I will still assertain that I was described by the RFL as "just the sort of person Quins needed to drive marketing and attendances"........but maybe my vigour, passion and straight forwardness was a tad to OTT for some.
I would expect that the Marketing Manager at Quins will be next to go, as she would seem to follow PB around.......and we will be back where we were in 2006.....I am not saying I would have done any better by the way,.......but I would have given blood trying!
Still, as you say, I have a Cake Tin to fill and a second NZ NRL Franchise to fight for (amongst all the other boring stuff I get to do over here)...and I will have to content myself from watching the farce unravel from the other side of the world.

BLACHARD was a complte arrogant idiot and did nothing for the Quins whatsover i know also for a fact that he turned down £100000.00 sponsorship deal a few months ago just because he didnt like the company who offered him the money.
Hope you guys get someone half decent that knows what they are doing

| If Jeremy Renner and Kevin Blackwell had a son he would look like Paul Blanchard. Any offspring of two men would do a better job with limited resources. Quins may not be better off without him, but they would be better off putting a sizeable salary towards someone who can actually achieve any goals, no matter how small they are.

'"
I'd like to know why companies pay vast amounts to these clowns, who are supposed specialists with no experience in said industry or failures from within the industry.
I work within the sports marketing arena, since coming to the UK I have gained all my roles by going around recruitment companies. I have offers left right and centre back in Australia, however here when dealing with 'specialists' I am often told I do not have the right experience despite it being written right infront of their faces. A consultant at a 'leading sports recruitment' firm was of the understanding that IMG the sports marketing/media giants were a bank....
Rant over

| For all the stick GF gets on the Quins board most of his ideas were cheap, realistic and feasible to implement.
The appears club jumps from one initiative to the next with no attempt to gauge effectiveness. Whoever said 'you cannot manage what you cannot measure' was right.
Whatever we do to increase crowds will take persistence, but we need to make we persisting with the right things.

| Yes, that could be very interesting - that should start an interesting debate (the moderators on the Quins board have aleady started making whimpering noises ).
