St.Helens RLFC head coach Paul Wellens has been fined £2,000, with £1,000 suspended until the end of the 2024 season, for breaching the game’s Operational Rules.
Comments made by Wellens in a BBC radio interview following the Betfred Challenge Cup Semi-final againstLeigh Leopards were found to have breached rules D1.1 (b), C2:6, C2.10 and C2:13, which relate to the conduct and standards of behaviour of persons bound by the game’s Operational Rules.
Criticisms of both the Match Review Panel and the RFL, and language used in relation to tackles to the head, were considered to be detrimental both to the game and the RFL’s Compliance function, and ultimately to have brought the game into disrepute.

You see this is why rugby league is a minority sport in this country and on a par with checkers, tiddlywinks and fishing.

Complains about a tackle and gets fined, yet the same people that fine him ban the tackle.

Wellens was a moaner as a player and nowts changed…he moaned about this to cover up the fact that he isn’t a good coach and has taken Sts backwards…they put all their eggs in one basket with the WCC in aus and the drive for 5 came unstuck with a slow puncture all season and a blowout in france

I,m pretty sure Wellens is the only one egg in the basket as a british coach to win the World Club Challenge on Australian soil.........and he achieved it in the Clubs History in the Making Year..... Also his moaning of the dangerous tackles that took out 4 of his props in one game was successful that type of tackle is now outlawed and illegal.

He’s a hull fan. No point listening to the opinion of a fan who supports hulls second team and who have no chance ever of reaching a world club challenge in the future

Wellens is the biggest hypocrite of all time, and a dull, dour sod to boot.

The fine was righteous, justified, and carried out in accordance with the laws of the land.

The validity of an opinion correlates with how successful the club a fan supports is, does it?
