Well I'm please BT were interested, but they can't have been that interested if SKY won the rights with a significantly reduced offer

John Davidson in quickly with the analysis. Disaster for the wider championship.
They were set to re-organise their competitions but called that off only two days ago so they must have known what was coming...
Further details show that there is some money for the Championship, so if anyone wants any speculation based on what has gone before, remember Superleagues serious and voted on proposal for a 10 club Superleague and a 10 club Championship.........

I thought the idea of hiring of Robert Elstone by the Super League clubs was to get a better TV deal and bring more money into the game. Obviously i was wrong

I don't dispute that Donny. Sky end up with exclusive rights and the game dwindles again. Possibly BT would have carried less exclusivity allowing for other money streams such as Free to Air.
But I guess we will never know.

It was but the championship and League one clubs knew this was going to happen when they were bullied into voting for it.
When Chalmers (yeah I know how he worked out) - along with the rest of the advisory group - was talking about this the likes of Carter and Hudgell were very quick to shout him down - I wonder why? On this one he was right and the SL clubs have ensured they were insured against a reduced deal.

That's rich coming from a fan of a club that routinely shouted down all opposition and flouted every convention, excuse me if I fail to weep for you. Carter and Hudgell and every SL CEO is doing their job by protecting their own club's interests if you think any of the Championship Chairman would act differently if in their shoes then you've clearly learned nothing.
I also love the way you assume the 'likes of' from the smaller clubs are the villains also amuses me, yep no self-interest at Wigan or Leeds is there

| The BT offer must have been pretty bad if the decision to remain with Sky on a greatly reduced deal was chosen.
Tough times ahead and players surely will be looking to Australia or Rugby Union if they can.
The salary cap again will stay as it is at best and the earning potential for players is just not high enough.

BT put all there money into champions League and over paid. Now they pretend to compete with sky.
When Scottish football rights were up for tender they were way lower then sky and this offer for Super League must have been a waste of complete time.
Thought DAZN may have made an offer as they need content to build UK subscriptions.

No Leeds were dead against it and voted that way. Wigan were all for it though their chairman didn't go to the press calling out Chalmers as Hudgell, Pearson and carter did. In fact Carter was very vocal about the vote at the time stating on twitter that if Featherstone didn't vote for it Wakefield would find somewhere else to train. A nameless current SL club told Rochdale they would drop them from their coaching partnership if they didn't vote for it.
Just because the management of the Bulls were typical SL self interested administrators in the past doesn't mean it was right or that us fans can't change our minds. it was wrong then as it is now and the game is going downhill because of it.
Walk a mile in another man's shoes.
Do the SL chairmen think that attendances at their clubs are suddenly going to go up if the championship goes to the wall - or it's own separate way? Those clubs without rich backers (that are effectively trading insolvent) will continue to wither away and die on the vine.

And if Bradford were in SL, just how do you think they would have voted.
You're analogy of walking a mile in another mans shoes is very, very apt and just as it is with the Bulls application in the golden ticket raffle, they wouldn't give a flying one about any other club when they have their noses back in the SL trough and you know it.

I don't begrudge anyone trying to get into the superleague and hope that whoever it is that gets in is given the chance to stay up and avoid all this in 2022.
It still doesn't make cutting everyone but the chosen 12 adrift right though does it? The collective behaviour of the superleague clubs has been short sighted and greedy. Ultimately, it's ended up with them paying a bloke who's never done anything in football 400K/year to deliver a reduced TV deal, falling standards on the pitch and reduced attendances at superleague matches and events (before Covid-19).
Also, what the Bull management choose to do or have done in the past is not down to me or any other fan. You need to disconnect the two. If we are parachuted into SL to get thumped every week, on less money and not get relegated I won't be there to see it. I'm sure lot's of fans will still go and I'm not saying there's anything right or wrong with that just that I won't be one of them. Similarly, if the club goes out of business or ends up in some sort of reduced set up due to the SL clubs failing to get a decent TV deal I won't be watching SL for my Rugby league fix I'll be lost from the game. Again, other people will choose differently but I won't be on my own.
