Well, I have watched most games currently in the NRL.
I have also watched all the games in televised SL.
Irrespective of any results of excuses & preferences,
But, in the NRL, because of the possible transmission of covid19, they control contact much, much better than our officials !
Chose who attacks of defends, contact by & large is minimal, the ref shouting held early & release, any failure he just awards a
Re-set play, this causes the players to get off/let go much sooner thus restricting unnecessary contact thereby controlling too
Much contact - sweating & grunting droplets etc, etc. This also stops long periods of wrestling which is a note to running &
Moving moves of rugby league.
Looking at SL, our refs have dropped back to pre-Covid playing standards of long wrestling nonsense, with the worst exponent being Kendal who two games back said aloud for all to hear, "I control the rucks" he is now very bad at this aspect, however he
Has been good at/in general play.
My point is, I thought players control the rucks in attack & defence with the ref making judgment on the rules & all players H & S.
Outcomes & play is supposed to be decided by now players play !
Further to this sliding of current plays, I have noted that players are supposed to only tackle a player above the knees when
Held by other players especially when from behind, this has/is not being controlled again, problem being players will get the
band of real injury occurs - not the refs or other game controllers who are now michrophoned up to the ref!I
YES, in general, SL, is still behind the NRL in terms of running the game, however, I still prefer our brand of attacking play
Than regimented defence based upon total fitness that is the basis of their game & the reason we struggle against them most times.

Comparing our SL to NRL is like comparing Premier League football with that of the divisions below - The entertainment may, on the odd occasion, be better, but, quality-wise, it's a huge gulf.

By suggesting their emphasis on fitness is somehow a negative is a bizarre thing to say, seeing as the sport itself is now 99% fitness based, ever since the introduction of fully professional RL in the mid 90's, when flair was pretty much eliminated from our game and replaced by regimental set plays.

Our domestic game is now a p!$spoor imitation of the NRL.

We have seen the difference in fitness etc with Luke Thompson being dropped after only a handful of games unfortunately.

Very important point indeed. Less injuries to our players who are the games greatest assets is important.

Yes I think player welfare is very important.

There will be around 50 players making regular Transatlantic flights to and from Toronto in S/L and Ottawa in C1 next season and how this will affect them with Covid and the demands on the body from 8 hour flights is yet to be seen.

The RFL and S/L have no thoughts for the players or the organisational skills to run even a p*ss up in a brewery as has just been shown with the ‘suspension’ for two matches of Jackson Hastings.

Despite Catalans getting Covid the RFL will still send teams from England to France so Guasch can start getting some gate money in. Player welfare naw... not at all. If you enter a UK league it’s tough if you have to play in England behind closed doors.

But in all good conscience how can the RFL risk players travelling to France a quarantined country?

The game constantly plumbs new lows... for an oldie like me it’s sad to see...

Football teams will travel to France as well in European competition as well as other places. That's just what has to be done to keep sporting competitions running.

Also are we forgetting here that catalan are not the only side with covid cases. The English sides already beat them to it.

How so? Super League isn't the only competition that has long flights.

Look at the Nrl, some teams travelling to and from Townsville in the matter of a few hours.

It’s different Aus is one country next year France will be EU we won’t so there will be passports customs and in Canada Visa’s that you don’t need on an internal Aus flights.

Also potentially three different levels of Covid rules..and quarantine both ways...

Well we agree on the first important point. icon_biggrin.gif

Not sure about point 2? Due to covid there could be no flights to Canada next year. The Championship clubs have suggested they don't like the idea of Ottawa playing all their games here, and if TWP did get back it may be back in the Championship as well. All that Canada nonsense may be put to one side

It's worth pointing out that in the NRL, every time a ball goes out of play, another ball must be used that has been sanitised, even the referee can ask for a new ball which has happened !!!
Question, does this happen in our game as per rules set ? Do we carry out this important protocol ? Has anybody seen it happen, has sky commentators spoke of it ?? As per NRL, broadcasting ! Or BBC broadcasting ?

Could explain the number of times play has stopped recently waiting for a ball to come on...in SL

Player safety is everything, however no-one has made any comparison in terms of the actual risk.
People will continue to give positive tests when the test itself is so flawed that it gives a + for dead organic matter (The South Koreans found this and told WHO who then released this as it has a huge impact on how positive tests should be looked at.

Currently death toll FROM a respiratory disease other than C.19 is FIVE times more, and the C.19 deaths are counted where C.19 is mentioned and not actually the underlying cause of death, the C.19 number also includes all the pneumonia deaths as per the governments edict earlier this year.
Week33/14th August, the death toll WITH C.19 mentioned on the death cert is 139, respiratory deaths as underlying cause of death (so not the same as a death WITH) and excluding all pneumonia deaths is 852, this is England and Wales.
Positive tests as a % of those tested even with that flawed test, show lower positive rate for C.19 than for flu last year at same time of year. 0.55% compared to 0.81% of all tests.

Sure we want players to be safe, but the actual risk, even in Australia (locking down for less than half the death toll of flu was insane) is significantly less than flu than last year and in fact other years as it stands.

Don't knock it. The teacher's unions want to close schools for an illness which has almost zero threat to children.

The virus is no longer the problem. The paranoid fear is our biggest threat. It doesn't help having politicians who are scared to lead and simply pander to mob fear.
