Most of us will be happy to see that the RLIF have announced that GB tours are to return!
www.rlif.com/article/8268/lions- ... e-calendar
"The next four-year International Rugby League calendar has been confirmed today at a meeting of the Board of the Rugby League International Federation in Sydney. Headlining the calendar is the return of Kangaroos and Lions Tours.
The four-year cycle, beginning in 2018, will include a New Zealand tour to Europe and an Emerging Nations championship in 2018, followed by a Lions Tour to the Southern Hemisphere in 2019, and a Kangaroos Tour to Europe in 2020. The Kangaroos Tour will feature at least three Test matches against England and one Test against France.
The final year of the next cycle, 2021, will feature the Rugby League Men’s and Women’s World Cups in the UK."
So GB will purely be a touring side, presumably every 4 years, reverting to England, Wales, Scotland & Ireland for the other three. No 4 Nations tournaments either.

| I am happy to see an effort put in to resurrect the international programme. The only slight doubt I have is that the kangaroos will play England over here? If it is only three tests then it should be GB, as the best players will all elect for England & Wales Ireland & Scots, will miss out on a few who would add value to their squads. We should play a 4/5 nations to select GB players from that would encourage some qualified players to opt for their heritage side so as to put their name in the GB frame. I am happy for England to play the world cup as a team.

| Great to see. Am glad to see test series replace the 4 nations. Hopefully the big 3 will play smaller nations too during their Tours.
We still need regular high profile games every year though for the smaller nations to develop. If there could be a 4/5 Nations annually on each hemisphere for the respective nations then I think we'd really start to crack the international sports market.

Doesn't bother me, be more bothered if GB was exactly the same players who played for England. Isn't there a grip amongst many we keep getting rinsed for more money from more shirts?

| I knew it wouldn't be long before the old "it'll just be the England players anyway" comments.
It probably will, well done for pointing that out, but so what? "Great Britain" is a brand, it's iconic in our sport. We know that Wales, Scotland & Ireland don't produce home-grown players of adequate standard at the moment, but the difference is at least those nations will be playing regular matches for the intervening three years, making it not necessary for players who do pledge to those nations to represent England during that time.

Do you have a standing order set up that automatically pays for a shirt once a new one is launched or something? Or do you like the rest of us have a choice whether you buy one or not?

For the past ten years or so many fans have asked to bring GB back.
They bring GB back as a touring side that'll play every 4 years and people moan.
You just can't win with RL fans.

The Rugby League fanbase is already saturated with enough that's going on, with many already disillusioned, no doubt blaming Nigel Wood for the sun rising in the east and setting in the west.
We need more new fans, those who grumble about the good old days when the players came straight out of the pub onto the pitch ain't going to help us expand. They don't even like johnny foreigner using their own money to fund their own team, because it isn't based in Cumbria.
Clearly Great Britain isn't what it was, or else we wouldn't be heading into darkness with Brexit and Indyref 2.0.
But that's my thoughts...

Many fans have wanted it back, some have always said what's the point so what's the issue if the above posted has always had the latter view?
