I think it's a fantastic way to honour and recognise people's achievements and efforts. Unfortunately, like much in this country, it's corrupted by the rich and influential for their own ends.

Sue Barker already had an MBE. For some bizarre reason she now gets an OBE for simply doing a job she gets very well paid for.

Anyone who criticises McCoy knows NOTHING about sport.. For 20 years in a row he was the best at his sport. I cannot think of anyone ever in any sport who has done the same,

Apart from party political hounours (from all parties) & the military the rest are chosen from nominations from the public. there is a process in place for you to get a petition up to reward people. Maybe us league suporters don't care enough to do that?

You miss the point clearly and where have I criticised McCoy? Knighthoods for sporting efforts alone are ridiculous in the extreme. Making a point about where someone comes from and the fact they went on to be successful is both disrespectful and denigrating to where someone came from but also a slight on the family and fails to understand that people from all walks of life can succeed and become successful, some through effort and some by luck or a combination of both.

I expect the next rugby league royal honoree to be Samuel Burgess. A English victory in the 2017 World Cup might just earn him a knighthood.

Mind you with all the Ed Sheeran hysteria sweeping England, I won't be surprised in the near future if the royals give an award to Sheeran's lookalike cousin James Graham by mistake.
