| The guy is a complete clown, in his time at Salford he offered the fans out for a fight twice, at Catalan after we'd just been tonked 66-6 he came marching over with the players and then beckoned the away fans on to the pitch to come and fight him and then again at The Willows in the final game of the season after we'd been relegated.
The man is supposed to be a professional and acts like a complete tool, I hope he does walk away from our game

Why don't you get a job as a championship level coach, go get your team in an important promotion related game, you know since its so easy, or whatever crap your repeatedly spout over peoples opinions of referees.

| To be honest, I thought Lowes outburst was him just being a sore loser at first, but since Ive had time to think about it I have some sympathy for his views.
The RFL saw the original Million Pound Game (Wakey v Cas 2006) and have tried to create something of a bandwagon. However, that one came about organically due to how the results went, whereas this new system is totally contrived to ensure such game arises every season in a type of Gladiatorial battle where the results is more or less the demise of one club. I dont think that is good for the game.
I think we need to go back to a 14 team Superleague, with a focus on developing home grown players. To some people the lack of enough quality players seems to trigger a response that we should drop to 10 teams in SL rather than tackling the issue and developing more quality players.

There are not enough quality players to justify a 14 team SL. That was always the trouble when the league expanded, because at the same time the RFL reduced the allowed number of overseas players as well as now removing the reserve team leagues, meaning players have to be 1st team ready by the time they're 19 or they're out on their ear.
I've always thought that if a player is good enough then they'll break into the first team organically regardless of the overseas players in the team. I'd prefer overseas quotas were removed entirely and replaced with a reward system for clubs who develop and promote junior players through their ranks.
But back to the MPG, it is the illusion of promotion and relegation, nothing more. Will Wakefield be as poor next year as they have been this year? Only time will tell, as well as how much they're able to pay out to actually put together a team for next season with their dropping crowds and lack of investment. But even so, I wouldn't bet against them making a second appearance in the MPG in 2016

This.
We all know that when Wigan had to fight relegation the old farts that run RL had a massive panic at the thought of a 'big club' going down, so they came up with licensing to make sure that what happened on the pitch had nothing to do with whether you were in SL or not. Some of us at the time called licensing for the crap idea it was.
Then the penny finally dropped with everyone that licensing was a stitch up, so they came up with the latest sophistry to pull the wool over everybody's eyes. It looks like P&R, but I'm willing to wager that no P&R will take place under this system.

If we keep reducing the number of clubs in SL and baring in mind the number of imports seems fairly constant, it's obvious that the talent pool will diminish.
The argument has been that we should be looking at quality rather than quantity but with the threat of relegation back on the agenda, clubs at the lower end of SL will keep on signing players to try and keep themselves in SL and this will certainly have an effect on youth development.
For Championship clubs to compete more evenly, we have to close the funding gap between the top two divisions.
What we have now is a system that will close the gap slightly for the clubs that finished top 4 in the Championship but this will have a detrimental effect on those that didn't make it into the top 4, which is likely to mean the same clubs occupying the top 4 next season and the season after that (sorry Fev).
Therefore we could have exactly the same middle 8's next season, fantastic (not).

This.
The funding has to be as equal as possible, and there has to be one salary cap. Otherwise P&R is just an illusion that puts clubs in danger of over-stretching themselves.
I love the new system, but the funding gap definitely needs addressing asap

| The only reason there are not enough quality players around is that the clubs aren't being forced to develop them. If we keep reducing the number of SL clubs depending on how many quality players we have, then pretty soon we will be down to just 4 or 5 teams.
The issue has to be tackled, otherwise we wont have a top level of the game as we wont have enough quality players and we will never catch the Aussies up.

No, the trouble is that the clubs don't have TIME to develop them. The current system that has 1st team then U19 means that once you're over 19, if you're not some wonderkid superstar then your career is pretty much done. Of to a lower team to get spanked every week and have your development stunted if you're lucky. If you're unlucky, guess what kid? You're only going to be playing and training part-time.
A proper reserve grade needs to be introduced. Not only will it allow players time to develop but it will also mean teams do not have to push players back into the first team following injury.

The U19's has only been in place for a few years. The system isn't the one we need but it's also not the main factor in why there's not enough quality youth development. It's because most clubs decide not to do it. They make an active choice to sign players instead of putting the money, time and effort into developing them.
A proper reserve grade will both weaken and be a competitor to the Championship, not to mention the fact that most clubs won't properly resource the current academy system never mind an additional tier of professional players.
If we actually want to catch up to the Aussies in terms of player development then we have to cut SL off and the Championship clubs be used as feeder clubs. The certainty of no relegation gives clubs the opportunity to plan and to give youth development a chance rather than, say, signing Kevin Locke, Scott Moore, Lee Smith etc.
We can't have it all ways. We can't b!tch and whine that licensing doesn't give Championship clubs a way into SL and then, when the threat of relegation is returned, complain about player development and not want the Aussie system that is one of the 2 biggest advantages they have in terms of player development and also b!tch and whine when a system (DR) is introduced to try and find a middle way.
Because that's what's happened in RL in the space of 2 years.
Ialso don't agree with the argument that SL and the Championship should be on the same funding and same salary cap. If they were then there is no point having 2 divisions.
