Saints March Into the Semi-Finals - Includes Semi DrawWith Hull KR, Leeds Rhinos and Warrington Wolves already in the hat for this afternoons Ladbrokes Challenge Cup semi-final draw, this afternoon it was the turn of St Helens and Widnes Vikings to vie for that last place.
Super Leagues second place side had a home game against the team nine places below them with the bookies making the home side the clear favourites. Denis Betts would have spent the time since the draw readying his side for this match and they would come to Langtree Park intending to make progress.
Make no mistake, Saints were embarking on the post-Wellens era with a tough encounter against a side who could upset the pundits and take the spoils.

| Widnes gave it a real dig there – great effort.
The Turner ball steal penalty certainly changed the momentum, St’s couldn’t buy any yards in the second half before that.
It’s getting very messy now, really tricky for the ref to decide in real time, too faffy to go to the VR, but it’ an area of the game that’s becoming very contentious.

No excuse for poor officiating again. It happened right in front of me and was clear as day that Turner was trying to offload. The touch judge and the referee have no excuses for seeing it correctly in real time.
I think we would still have come out on top in the end regardless of that decision, but all credit to Widnes they gave it all they had and no complaints had they won.

| Be interesting to see if a saints no 21 (Greenwood?) gets a ban and there are people calling for a ten game ban for his leg twisting on Brown.

Watch it again, twists him once and half attempts to do it again, but Brown kicks him off.

Still Garbage, Brown hits the deck on his backside and twists his own body around to put himself in the play the ball position. Greenwood
didn,t release his ankles until instructed so by the referee.
Brown didn,t even kick him off, he just stepped forward to play the ball, and then realised he had been tackled with his bad ankle, which he got much earlier on in the match.

It’s not garbage when you’re so biased towards your own club, that you will use any allegory to refute the Sneyd incident.

Did you get rid of all the voices in your head? Do you now miss them and the things that they said?: |

Brown had to twist his body round because Greenwood was rotating his legs, if he hadn't then it could have been nasty.
Plus Brown isn't a spoiled child like McGuire, so didn't react petulantly.

| Quote: Dave K. "It's on Paul Fletchers twitter account, not quite as bad, but if the RFL are consistent should at least be called up and a one match ban.
If the RFL were consistent then Sneyd would've got a longer ban.
I just knew Hull fans would jump over the next 'twist' incident and still portray Sneyd as some kind of victim.
The Greenwood one isn't actually bad, and that Hull fans is what a genuine accidental one looks like.....not Sneyd's.
Greenwood makes the tackle around Brown's lower legs and Brown is dragging his foot out to PTB as Greenwood is rolling. Unlike Sneyd who had a tight grip on McGuire's foot and decided to roll with it in that grip.

| I think it depends if they see it as Greenwood's momentum causing the roll. I wouldn't like to say. In Sneyd's case it definitely wasn't momentum.

Well no, Brown was twisting because there was a slim chance of an offload. The initial contact from Greenwood was the back of Brown shirt, with momentum Browns ankles were around Greenwoods throat, it was after this when Greenwood still had hold of Browns trailing ankle, delayed a quicker PTB.
The suggestion from the Hull poster that Brown had to kick out in the tackle, I repeat again ………….GARBAGE.

| You lot are ridiculous. Greenwood doesn't twist the ankle, once he's finished the roll, the ankle is still pointing in the direction it should and hasn't rotated 360 degrees. No case to answer here at all.
If Greenwood does get a referral for that, Saints should just show a highlights clip of Willie Isa's involvement in the game. I don't think he did a thing yesterday that was within the rules.
