| Barely got out of 8th gear this season and are cruising along nicely in the top 2 despite having to play a B team most weeks.
Instead of relying on star names, they have a larger squad with lots of hungry players who can slot into the system seamlessly. Because of their structured gameplay they can cope with injuries better than any other team in the world. They are not the harlem gloebtrotters. It's hard, fast, basic and very very clever and slick.
They are probably the closest thing to an NRL type team we have ever seen in super league.
I'm not just saying it, I can't see past them for the double.

I wouldn't go predicting doubles just get but we are giving ourselves a chance. Your comment about the NRL team is interesting. I've often thought similar and think it is one of the reasons the NRL are often looking at our players before others.

If you’re a Wigan fan the future looks rosy for many years to come .
I reckon Saddended! Will be a little suicidal tonight .

Yeah, it's just wigan's whole modus operandi. The way they use dummy runners and structure the attacking line, the control of the ruck and forward play, and the complete and utter lack of any stupid options, dumb play or hail marys without playing boring rugby.
If you watch alot of the NRL and watch wigan, you will just know it's similiar even if you can't put your finger on what.

| Is there not a Wigan forum where this sort of over the top hyperbole belongs? I mean by all means applaud their efforts, but "I can't see beyond them for the double"? After 12 games? When 3 weeks ago Leeds taught them a lesson at Headingley? When next week they play a real team who might just hand them a beating? Have a word.

just played the best team last week and returned the favour of teaching them a lesson.

| Let's not get too carried away, Salford were utterly abysmal. Just awful.

And not one Wiganer mentioning it BTW.

OP was fawning over Saints several weeks ago so to be taken with a pinch of salt. If Hudds go on a run they'll be next for an individual thread entitled "This Hudds Team"
Nothing we've seen in the last week from Wigan has really altered things in terms of who might win the big prizes come year end. They were/are always bound to be in contention.
If I were a betting man i'd say Leeds and Wigan will split the main prizes (GF & CC) one apiece. Probably the expected route (Leeds GF, failing in CC). This Wigan team have for a while now excelled around May time, nothing new there. But already they've had to get 'up' for the WCC, taking away Saints unbeaten start meant a lot to them as Wane highlighted, and the Leeds game was "best win ever".
With a big CC quarter to come followed by potentially the semis and final and then the playoffs I wouldn't be surprised if they were running on empty by September just like 2011.

Not really, won a close game, wasn't really a lesson there beyond learning what you can get away with. There's no doubt that these kids are very promising, and doing a great job, but some of the praise being lavished upon them is way ott and a bit embarrassing.

And in my opinion it is sounding like you are a little bit jealous thats it not all about your team along with a few rhino fans who are still bitter from last week.
When you beat a team who is only conceding an average of 8points a game with a lot of first team players out it doesn't matter how close the scoreline is it still a massive feat ( and in the context of the game we did teach them a lesson) which just happened to jammed in between a similar line up beating Hull Fc and Salford.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Giants beat us next week considering we never perform well against you unless it means something.

I wouldn't be suprised if hudds win either. Afterall theres no trophy on the line and the game effectively means nothing.
So huddersfield will be in their element.

The Wigan depleted youngsters won at Headingley by putting 50 points on Leeds in 2012........ 2012 GF winners were......????
