Thinking about the magic weekend's 'derby' format today and the number of damp squibs it leaves that aren't derbies at all, I don't see why these games cannot be made up of more competitive pairings. Leave the games be that are actually intense derbies and then re-jig the games that neutrals don't care about, e.g London v Cats, Hudds v Salford and possibly Wire v Widnes.

So Wire v Widnes isn't a derby? How long have you been watching RL?

I do agree that a better pair of games would have been Huddersfield-Catalan and London-Salford...but to be fair to the RFL London were tipped to challenge for the top8 when the fixtures were announced.

Leeds/Bradford is the airport.

Warrington vs Wigan
Leeds vs Hull FC
Huddersfield vs Bradford
Saints vs Catalans
London vs Salford
Widnes vs Castleford
Hull KR vs Wakefield

The Wigan v Saints games at Magic Weekends have often been some of the poorest and least intense games.

How about they select the fixtures on the Sunday night before.....1st v 2nd, 3rd v 4th etc......

London v Widnes
Wakey v Castleford
Salford v HKA
The Airport
St Helens v Hull
French v Hudds
Wire v Pies.

It's not like the fans and clubs don't know where the games will be played.......and I reckon the fixtures above would all be very competative......more so than London and Widnes shipping 50+ points each

Would never work what with people having to know the day that they play months in advance in some cases.

If they are giving SL points for it then it has to be as even as possible imo.

Agree to a certain extent, I preferred the format they used a couple of years ago, on league places (maybe the previous season?)

Looking at the fixtures there will be 3 walkovers this weekend IMO.

We want a full staduim.

Have the fixtures to get that.

Agree....Catalans and Hudds are 1/10 respectively....Wire are 1/20
