Are you referring to Leeds? or just in general? because we won 15 and lost 11

Ah well, looks like we'll have to be champions again next year. Can't teams like Bradford etc cheat on the salary cap again so it gives them a fighting chance ?

No i mean a team who finishes in 8th. Don't have a problem with Leeds winning it. But could you imagine Hull KR been called champions if they found some form.

I don't have that good an imagination. However, as we finished 7th, perhaps you could make a case for us?

Like it or not the SL competition is split into two parts. The first part (the league) is simply a competition to decide the 8 teams that will play off for the title of SL Champions.

Considered that way the play offs at least make some kind of sense.

In that case, why should people be interested in the former especially when more-than-half quality for them? You have more chance of finishing in the play-offs, then not. Where's the drama in that? Why not just tune in for the last 4 weeks of the season? Especially when there is less weight in significance for finishing first, second, third, etc... (essentially the privileges for finishing first are the same for the rest of the teams within the top 4).

It only makes sense for a play-off system to be exclusive, rather than inclusive. And the top 8 as it stands, ruins both parts - 29 weeks spent waiting to see who will finish in positions 1-4, and 5-8, whilst the majority of those teams KNOW they will qualify for the play-offs weeks in advance, and a play-off system which spreads too thinly, resulting in teams who deserve more of the pie - don't. (oh, and the chance of repeat fixtures from the "qualifying play-offs" to the "qualifying semi-finals" is a joke too)

For information, I didn't invent the system but given that not all teams will qualify for the playoffs there is obviously great interest in the league part of the competition. Do you not go to league matches? Just wait for the playoffs perhaps? If you do go to league matches, why do you?

as ive said on a different thread, my dad has not renewed his Season Ticket for next season, feeling that the reg season games are now meaningless and he's being ripped off paying £200 for what are effectively pre season games til the season really begins in the 2nd week of september. I found it hard to argue with him.

Given that Wigan have only managed to win the GF once this century, I can understand his deep despair.

All that money spent on season tickets, pies and beer, travel, and for such a small return. I feel his pain. No, really!

The rest of us may enjoy RL as a spectacle, week in week out, but we really should spare a thought for the Pie People.....
