| Well thank god that's over.
He rolled into super league and butchered the game. He turned one of the games premier clubs into an anti rugby team. A team that niggled and spoiled it's way to victory. A team that, how should I put this without getting trouble? They used 'questionable' tackling and ruck techniques (you all know what I'm talking about).
I don't know Maguire personally, he could be a stand up bloke in real life, but purely on him as rugby coach he's a tw*t of the highest order for the way he coached his team to play.
Hopefully wigans next coach will revert back to their tradition and be pro rugby like we all know they are capable of doing.

| I agree. Hopefully they don't continue with it. It's entirely possible to be aggressive in defense without trying to injure opponents. Look at Warrington's defense.
All this attention on pressure points and joints has been a worrying development. All sparked by his time at Melbourne, a club where the rules are never really much of a concern.
Look at minute 44 or so of the weekends game and the challenge on Andrew Dixon. Absolutely horrible and entirely deliberate. How he escaped without an operation and a year of rehabilitation is beyond me, and they've done it all season.
I've heard a few on the Wigan board say this year that it's not gone down well with certain players there either.

| Complete myth tbh.
Back it up with facts, like how many Wigan players have been banned for 'dangerous tackling techniques' in the past two years.
I'll wait but I won't be holding my breath.

| I wonder what price the bookmakers would have given on so many Catalan players being forced from the field in the first 20 minutes of Wigan's make or break game against them.

Must have been a really poor coach, I mean, two years of trying to 'end careers' and never managed to end one.

Probably because Mr Dixon isn't as soft as the idiots who've never played the game banging on about Wigan all the time. Tomkins takes more dirty hits in a game than the average player does in a season. Presumably that's OK though, because he sometimes tries to milk a penalty, which, as we no, no other player at any club other than Wigan, has *ever* tried to do.

| Whilst you may have a point about the "questionable tackling techniques", I think calling them anti-rugby and saying they niggled and spoiled their way to victory is extremely harsh. Some of the attacking stuff they have played over the last 2 years has been really good to watch

| I suppose we should have kept Noble and bored the opposition to the hospital for the past 2 seasons?

| I don't know the OP personally, but on the basis of his posts on here I would say he ranks pretty damn high in the order of tw#ts. Probably on the executive board.

Mr Lima receives so many letters about his questionable technique that he's making an income from paper recycling.
Wigan repeatedly attacked standing legs when players were held up this season and a fair few injuries did result from it.
The difference between Dixon losing his career and not was pure luck. The intent to mame was there.

| Once again, how many bans have been handed down to Wigan for these illegal tackles?
I note the change in attitude this year as opposed to last; last year it was all whinging about 3 in the tackle, this year every other club has taken this up and now it's whinging about these mythical dangerous tackles.

Mythical? I take it you've watched the replay of the game? Look at the Dixon tackle and tell me that's not malicious. Look at Lima on Lomax and his twisting his leg. They've been doing it all through Maguire's reign of terror, hold the man up and third or fourth man in 'snaps the pole' by attacking the side of the knee joint.
It's not just me and other posters on here either, several coaches both here and in the NRL have complained about it (About Melbourne). Mick Potter called it right when he spoke candidly about it, saying he didn't feel it was morally acceptable to send your players out to deliberately injure opposition players.

Did both players get up with no complaints and play the ball? I've honestly not even seen the game yet (and don't intend to )
