| Why does it matter , he didn't go , so is it about how it was actually there , or how it was perceived to be via the TV ?
As I asked on another thread , what is the purpose of MM ?

For the fans, I certainly enjoyed mixing with different clubs' fans and enjoying a beer with them. Also clubs like us who aren't realistically going to challenge to play in that type of stadia in a cup game or in the league within the next 5/10 years. Atmosphere was good inside the ground if you sat with the respective fans of the clubs.
Really enjoyed it and probably best ever weekend of rugby I've had.

| The RFL get roughly £1m from MM. Arguement over if you ask me, next year they invest some of that money and sales go up and more people go to the event.
I loved seeing every team play, and rather than every time I turn the telly on soccer being on, it was nice to see the greatest game on non stop.

| A fair number of journos don't like MM, and they write articles before saying that it'll be a flop, and then articles afterwards about how they were right. I'd be more surprised if a journo wrote beforehand of his scepticism and afterwards of his enthusiasm, or vice versa.
If it makes money, and 30,000 - 40,000 people have a good time, then it works for me. I really enjoyed the Saints v Wigan and Bradford v Leeds games, and various bits of other games too. If people don't like it, thhey don't have to go, but as long as tends of thousands of us do, then why not ?

So from 500k to £1,000,000 RFL funding for it now, again though how do we know this? (not denying just like to see) as if so could change a lot of views on effectiveness of MM!

| I remember someone saying that Cardiff Council paid 500k to host the event and whatever the sales/sponsorship money revenue totals out at, i'd say a million seems fairly accurate.

| Kelner is a Salford fan (though god knows when he last went to a game). Being a miserable sod goes with the territory

Are you sure? I thought he was Swinton.
I can't disagree with that blog - apart from the middle 6 or so paragraphs of waffle.

Swinton fan. You should have a look at his brother Simon's excellent book 'To Jerusalem and back'. He's a journalist, you know, like you...
